Mobile Banking - Mobile banking... convenient, but is it safe?

I've recently been browsing apps on on iTouch, and I've encountered quite a few that are directly related to your banking needs. Even online just on my computer, I've come across another feature called Google Wallet. This has made me think about how convenient online technology really is, but also... is it really as safe as it's said to be? There are many hackers who have nothing else better to do than try to steal via hack codes or whatever. They can send out a virus, shut down your computer, copy your files.. all from the comfort of their homes. So how much safer is mobile banking from any other internet site? I realize that banks would ensure the best security and protection for their customers as well as their own financial institutions, but there is really no telling what could be leaked out with a simple computer glitch. What are your thoughts on this?

A computer glitch can happen on a mobile phone, a computer, or the bank's servers. I remember reading a story about some guy in Florida or something who became like a billionaire for a day or so because the computer deposited a bunch of money into his account. It is very unlikely that there will be a security bug on your mobile device as the only way for someone to log in to your account is with your password.

Thanks for your response. Yup, that is true with computer glitches. But people these days are much smarter and sneakier. Hackers are getting better and better in their craft, and thieves are getting more and more desperate for financial solutions. It's hard to predict the true measure of the safety and security of any technological advancement, especially when it comes to money.
