I'm having a real hard time falling to sleep at night. Any suggestions?

I find that, since my daughter's death 11 months age, I have a very hard time falling asleep. I try to relax my body and regulate my breathing, which works sometimes, but not very often. I don't want to take any sleeping aids...I already take enough medication. What is really bad is when I do fall asleep, I wake up after 15 or 20 minutes, then I really can't go back to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could try?

Sounds to me something is keeping your mind busy. Getting back behind your computer will surely not help to fall asleep. You better take time for you, take pen and paper and write down everything that pops up in your mind. Tell/promise yourself (when there is nothing to write down anymore) you will deal with it tomorrow morning and later on, you will take yourself seriously and it's time to sleep now.

That sounds like a very good suggestion. Once I go to bed, I don't usually get up except for bathroom needs. I don't go on the computer...I might go downstairs and have a smoke if its been several hours and I'm still awake. I am gonna try your suggestion...maybe it will work. Thanks.

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I have never been in your situation but the only thing that I could think of to help you relax some and maybe your mind to sleep better is to read a book. Reading always makes me tired and maybe it would help get your mind off of things and relax some to sleep better.

Thank you for your nice response. I do read before I go to bed. Perhaps I should try to read longer than I do. Again, thank you.
