My Mother in Pain

I woke up Sunday morning with my son telling me that he got a message form my dad at 1am saying that my dad and my mom was at the hospital coz mom complained of chest pains. I feel so troubled every time I would hear any of my parents sick. I was totally out of my mind when I went to the grocery in the morning coz all I wanted to do was to get to their house and check on her. I called their house and my second son answered and told me that both of my parent were asleep. Atleast that relieved me. I was already crying just thinking that my mom might be real sick. Good thing that when I came over to their house in the afternoon, she was feeling better. She slept most of the time coz she wasn't able to sleep much the night before. But really, when you think of your parents being in such conditions, you'd rather take their pain and let yourself suffer than see them suffer themselves. When I got back in the evening, I tried to sleep early. But my mind is still bothered about what happened to my mom. My dad is mostly out of town coz he still teaches in the Graduate School every two weeks. My sister and his husband stays with my sister's in laws every weekend. I feel that my mom needs to be close to me so that I could be there if she needs me. But that would be impossible. And she won't even let herself be a burden to me. She is not totally incapacitated. But I just worry for her. Actually, just doing this post makes me teary-eyed....

I do understand your feelings Jenny. When my parents were still alive, I also had that kind of concern over their condition. Whenever they are sick I was so affected. I would not want them to have any health concerns at all. My heart would beat faster than the usual if they were not feeling well. I would not mind spending all my money just to be sure they are back in normal form. I do miss them. They are both gone and I really envy those who still have parents with them. I'm glad you are a caring child to your parents. Keep up because once they are gone, you can no longer show how much you love them. Parents are precious and I have proven that. I wish I have them forever but life is really short. So while still alive let's just do everything to show our love for our parents. God bless!

Hi, salonga! Thanks for your sweet words. I don't tell them everyday that I love them but I sure do. My mom's chest pain was very similar with the one I felt two years ago. And i told her that I was really feeling the pain before as well as the uncontrollable tremors in my whole body. I felt I could die that time. My mom is hypertensive which makes me worry even more. Good thing when I took her blood pressure yesterday, his blood pressure has gone down.

Thanks, dear Hatley! My mom is actually feeling better now. Atleast that made me feel a lot better, as well. Coz I remember when he was hospitalized in 1998 due to stones in her gall bladder. I was about 7 months pregnant that time, but I managed to come to visit her everyday. My dad was not at home that time. I think he was still working abroad during those time. Good thing that my grandmother's tenant's daughter was living with my mom and so she was with her at night.

@dee777, my mom is hypertensive and she sometimes has arrythmia. But she takes her medicine religiously. Maybe she was just tired that day. Thanks so much, dee777!

Oh I understand that pain! I am happy to hear that she is better now. Could the doctor determine what was wrong? Is she on medication now? Is there special treatment that she needs to undergo? God bless you my friend - stay strong.

Despite knowing that worrying will not help solve problems we still worry. It is human nature. This needs to be tackled from a different angle specially since you say that you are in no position to do anything except worry. Is there a different angle that you can think of jenny so that you can stop worrying?

Thank God she is alright now! I am so relieved. But now I am worrying about my 12 year old son who had a sprain when he was playing basketball. He was not able to come to school today coz his foot is a bit swollen.

Actually, I call her every now and then and check on her. But just before I was about to write a response to you, I called her up and my dad took the call. My mom is apparently doing the laundry! My nanny still lives with them but she wouldn't want my nanny do the laundry coz she ruins most of the clothes! Most probably, my mom is feeling a lot better now. Thanks, allknowing!

Happy to hear that Dear, I am sure that your mother will be alright faster than you think.... Yeah, have faith, You are the key to bring happiness and changes to yourself and those who are around you just by your feelings and thinking... Now I tell you one of my life experience... once my best friend came to college and she was sad about her sisters suddenly fell ill and admitted in the hospital and doctors were wonder to not find any reason about what was the cause of her illness..... she was just in koma and had a little kid.... my friend cried for her sister and lost all her faith.... that time I was practicing on some knowlege about power of our mind.... so i just told her right now stop whatever negative you think and say about ur sister health and just say she is fine .... when i told her about imagination maybe she didnot make me seriouse I have not seen her sister so I could not have any imagination about her recovery there was only one way ..... my friend.. so I prayed and when my body and mind was calm I closed my eyes and just i imagined my friend is coming to me with happy smily face and say to me that it is like a miracle my sister is totally fine!!!! and i repeat this as long as it bring the message that now i am sure that it works and she is fine with the holy light..... and after 3 days.... when i was waitning for my fried she came excatly with the face i imagine and with the same words.....my sister is totally fine and it was just like a miracle.... she was happy... and i said thanks to God... Thanks for the light of God which is within us.... so BE SURE.... you have power to make good and to bring positive changes in life of yourself and those who are around you....

Yes, when there are issues with a family member, it is hard and you want to be around them all the time and make sure they are OK. My thoughts and prayers are with her, and hope she is feeling better.

Thanks, KrauseHome! She is feeling a lot better now. It's a good thing that my dad was with her when she felt the chest pains. My dad was supposed to be out of town that day but he decided a few days before the incident to have this flight re-booked.

Thanks, redredrose! Actually, that happened several weeks back. And my mom is doing great now. And I am more than relieved when she was doing her usual chores the day after, so most probably she just needed rest or she just have to be extra careful with the choices of food that she takes.

I know how you feel because I experience that too. I live one hour and half travel away from my parents. One time my sister called me and told me that they needed to take my mother to the hospital. I was so worried, and we were talking through the phone I could not hear her clearer due to signal problems with the phone. I stopped what I was doing, I did not even bother to get dressed and went straight to the hospital to meet them there. Good thing it's was nothing serious. Since them,I have always been praying for my family, specially for my parents' health. They are not getting any younger, and I always remind them to take care of their health.

I wish that both of them would just stop whatever keeps them busy or stressed. But they are the workaholic type of people. good thing they do not have vices. So that is one thing that i am happy about.
