Communication in its broader sense is divided into Verbal and Non-verbal ones. While the former is concerned largely with speech, writing and reading the latter encompasses body language, physical attributes, gestures, facial expressions, social distance and observation.Listening in fact is not just hearing to sounds and voices. It is much more than that and a long drawn-out process. The skill of listening is the foremost skill of interpersonal communication in almost all human beings. To gain success one should be a good and patient listener.

That is right. When you listen you are going to learn. And there is pride when one doesn't like to listen. You have to listen and know how to respond on it as well. However, positive words are good to hear while negative is some kind of turn down. Be careful as well on what you are lisstening.

Listening is very important. When we talk and listen to others we should do our best to try and apply what we have learned. Especially if we see that it can benefit us in some way. A lot of the time we can gain a lot of wisdom from applying the things that we hear.

Listening for me is something to reflect and analyze as well. There are people who just listen but therefore they don't analyze or even think of what it is talking about. It is also a key to success if we are able to apply the good things that we've listened.

Yes, I agree with you. The act of listening is an effective way in communicating. Even if you are successful at the moment, there will be a time that you will go down because of not listening. People tend to fail because they do not listen much with the instructions.

If we are a good listener, success will never be a question. Since we are sensitive enough to what other feels into something. In business, to gain more profit; we should know how to listen with the other team. Success will be the next thing to happen.

Sukumar, For me the key to success is Hard work and work in the right direction with honesty and sincerity. There is no substitute for the hard work and sooner than later even your luck has to bow down to hard work. Listening to others is important as it gives you new ideas too but nothing beats hard work

Sukumar, It is not easy to be good listener. Not everyone is good listener. In every house hold you would find wife complaining that her husband doesn't listent to her. Good listening is not only important to be sucessful but also it is very important for the relationships too. Those relationship die soon in which lovers don't listen to each other

Not unless you listen good , you can not learn. Espicially in class room if you are not going to listen to your teacher , then surely you can not gain anything from him. Also one must listen to others for theri experience and knowledge. Also as asweetie said many relationship die because people do not listen to each other so I fully agree with you.

a pleasant day sukumar794, what you have posted is true. this is one of the good traits a person should possess that he/she must have patience and a good listener. hence, for being patience, everything will likely to follow. if a person is patiently enough to approach others, an amiable face is like to appear. and because of this, a good impression will be given that will definitely produce a good result and outcome. so as, being a person in this sense will gonna surely help one to be successful.

Wow mind blowing! But alas! now a days youngsters have have become too impatient and rude and rough. Their parents have felt to teach them morals and social ethics and people are giving blame to T.V., Cell phone and internet. I don't know what will happen in future if this continues further.

I always try to find out exactly what a person is really saying. It's not always just what they actually speak that concerns me. It's also about what they are saying with their movements and their eyes. I don't talk to people much, but when I do, I try to really find out what they are saying to me.

Good listening involves observation of all the body cues you mentioned. It's harder to listen and observe, so we have two eyes and two ears and only 1 mouth! I couldn't agree with you more. I need to listen to these "expressive" cues so much more. Thank you for reminding me of this one.
