Why is my post deleted?

I have not received any answer from mylot why my post was deleted. I received advisement that my post is either recipe/joke/mass mailing/email forward posted as discussion. I contend that I wrote the following, and it is a personal significant experience for me. Parents can come up with the weirdest of names, and when one is Catholic, the name you give your parish priest could infuriate him. In connection with the gospel yesterday, 13 Jan 13, the Baptism of Jesus, our parish priest had this to say in his sermon. A baptizing priest asked the parents what their child's name was, and they answered "Toyota!" The priest looked at them seriously, checking if he heard them right, so the couple proceeded to explain: Our firstborn, a girl, was called Mercedes, and then we thought of naming our second child, a boy, Ford. Then, we called our third child, which we hoped was our last, Beetle, because that sounds cute enough for a youngest offspring. Then later, we realized that Beetle was a nickname for Volkswagon. We didn't want to have another child but this one came along. And so by way being in sync with the names of our first three children, we would like to call the fourth one Toyota. The priest asked, "Okay, what do you want me to use to baptize your child with, diesel or gasoline?" The listening laity laughed, but our priest was not smiling. Baptism is a sacred sacrament, and a child is not a car. The Baptism of Jesus by John was probably the most mysterious and awesome scene that took place in the Bible, for God presented His son to us, and the followers of John witnessed it. May we witness God revealing Himself to us when we take care of our children, and yes, let us give our children beautiful Christian names. Please, this is how I write and if it appears to be an email forwarded, can't help that. I did receive a response for this particular discussion, and I was about to respond, just to find out it was taken out. Please restore.

eileenleyva what you need to do is private message the admins by putting GoAskAlice in the who to line and explaining that the joke is just part of the whole discussion and that is permissible. If the joke was just sent alone it woud be a rule breaker b t this is not the case, YOu cannot get to the admins in a discussion you must either hit contact and scroll down to other and plead your case or send that private message to GoAkAkluce ca se of send the private message to GoAskAlice and Alex will tell you what he can do.

First of all, I have to say that I havent' been getting any kind of notifications from mylot for a few days now, so I think that there is something that is going on with the notification system. Now as far as the discussion goes, I would guess that the reason that it was deleted was because of the fact that it sounds like a joke as opposed to being a true discussion. I know that I've had the same kind of thing go on before when I started a discussion talking about recipes.

Your post may have been deleted in error. Yes I agree that you should email the admin as well so that you can get everything straightened out. I think that the post is funny, because parents name their kids some weird things now days. Why would you name a child Toyota? I think I would take that over face-book though, because I tell you sometimes I wonder what goes through parents mind when it comes to naming their kids.

I agree, there are parents who care not how weird or strange their children's names are. If I am president of the world, I will make an international edict that children must be given proper human names.

if i am not the original creator, author, writer, speaker, and want to use part of it in my discussion or response, then i say so. ex. i read this in the xyz news site or abc website our science teacher said this back in fourth grade i saw this sign on my way to work i overheard this in a crowded train this is part of a forwarded email i'm not sure if that's the reason, but you might ask admin also. just send him a private message. put goaskalice as username. he'll get it even if he's not on your friend's list.

Thank you hereandthere, I will do my best to qualify my stories more clearly. I decided though not to ask GoAskAlice, because deleted posts, according to our friends above, do not really get restored, meaning the titles and the posts are lost from our profile list, and we have to use the search to find them. I will leave it as is and hope that none of my future posts ever get deleted again. Thanks once again.

Please if your talking with religion let no jokes be a part of it some priest just don't know what they are doing. There is no jokes when it is related to GOD ALMIGHTY. Sometimes my discussion to be posted was also lost, instead of having it posted it's gone, will what I did is, I rewrite the phrases change some words and tag it again and I succeed the 2nd time.

Thank you for the tip. There was actually no joke, if at all, the priest actually admonished the parents for making baptism a naming game. I wrote "our priest was not smiling." I agree, we do not take anything about our religion trifling, and definitely, we don't make fun anything about our God.

Mylot is an exciting social networking site, and I had been here for some years. As for the financial perks, perhaps you should seek advice from those who really get good compensation. Look at their points beside their avatars, the higher the number might mean they must be doing good. Send them private messages and ask. Good luck.

If you feel that Admin deleted your discussion in error, you should send a PM to GoAskAlice giving your reasons and asking for clarification on his decision. Starting discussions on an individual issue you are having with MyLot is against the Guidelines and will be removed.

I see. Thanks for that advisement. Perhaps others will learn from this. I did receive the notification on my e-mail and made the reply right there. I hope GoAskAlice will not delete this, for this is a learning discussion. Thanks again.

Dear friend, I feel it as a joke and interesting one to read. Naming children like this seems to bit funny one. May be if they were passionate gynecologist doctors wonder what would they name their childern.

Oh gosh, you are right, the story did appear as a joke! I see. But my intention was to discuss the names we give our children. Thanks for telling me, we do miss salient points sometimes. I just missed on my own. Sigh!

I almost never received any notification if any of my posts were deleted. Actually, it was not a post that I started. Mylot notified me that the thread was deleted, if I'm not mistaken. Reading this post, I do not feel offended at all. It was somewhat amusing, inspiring, and more or less thought provoking. I do not see any elements of offensiveness. It might offend certain people, religion, culture or groups, but this post can still light up possible mylotters. Also, which part of this post violates anything to do with mylot? I hope this was deleted by mistake. I am curious somehow about how many people are in charge of mylot. Look at posts about making money. How many people have posts such topics and asks how do you make money online again and again? I would notify these people and tell them to post something unique. That's me. There's nothing wrong, but it becomes a spam like topic, which yours is not at all. Just keep this updated. I'm curious if you get any update at all.

Glad you laughed. Am not sure if the priest made the story up but there are parents who really name their children weird and strange.
