If any of you tuned in to the 2013 Inauguration, you will know that it was a very nice event, formal and presidential as it should be. However, within any crowd of happy people celebrating a win, there are also sour losers lurking in the shadows resenting the ambience of celebration. Lupe Fiasco happened to be one of those people the day of the Inauguration. Don't get me wrong.. I WAS a Lupe fan.. even though him and B.O.B. seem quite similar to me. But, after Lupe's performance at the Inauguration, he definitely lost me and a few people I know as fans. I'm not sure whether this was planned or what, but he really made a "statement" by attempting to perform his Anti-Obama song on stage. He was quickly prompted to perform another song or exit the stage whether it be willingly or unwillingly. I felt his stupidity to be overwhelming. I wholeheartedly understand "freedom of speech" and all of that, but there is definitely a time and place for everything. I feel as if Lupe Fiasco further destroyed what was left of his career by behaving in the fashion that he did. Did any of you guys witness this? What were your views upon watching his performance? And what are your views of him now?

As a huge Lupe fan, I totally understand & respect your position on this. But I'm gonna have to disagree with you. I'm wondering who was in charge of booking entertainment for the event. No one has all the time in the world to research every artist they book, but it doesn't take much to find out that Lupe thinks the US government is a bunch of bull. And in a day in age when being fake to one's values is the norm, I have to applaud the man for sticking to what he believes in.

I think that the government is a sham, too. Everyone has been knowing that for years. However, as I stated above, there's a time and place for everything and also a way to approach a situation positively so that you can have a positive outcome/successful results. When you spring a political statement on someone or a group of people, you will want to do it in the most professional of manners so that you will be taken as seriously as possible. I'm sure very little individuals in political power took him seriously as he was escorted off stage. I applaud anyone for sticking up for what they believe in strongly, however timing is everything! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!
