We were in the hospital after about 5 days and 4 nights. My daughter got sick after we went for a beach vacation last Sunday. She was vomiting, and had fever and lost her appetite. She didn't eat much since the morning of Monday, and she would vomit everything she takes in, even fluids. So, we took her to the doctor the next day and was advised for confinement. She was showing signs of dehydration, then. So, the first diagnosis was UTI, because of her urinalysis results. Then, when they did a repeat test, her urine was clear. She had watery stools, so they also did stool exam, and still found nothing. Her abdominal pains didn't subside till the 3rd day, so they gave her additional medicines. Finally, she was discharged yesterday afternoon, when the fever has subsided for more than 2 days and she no longer shows other symptoms. And, their final report says she had Viral Infection "Unspecified". That's the first time I've heard of it. Oh well, Im just glad she's okay now, and we have to study her lessons for special tests tomorrow, since she missed the exams week.

Did they do a flu test because there are different types of flus and it sounds like the stomach flu because that can cause water stool, vomiting and fevers to the point of dehydration.

Yeah! That was most probably intestinal flu. The kid shows the symptoms of it.

As far as I know, they didn't do any flu test. I haven't actually heard of such. The doctor did mention that it could be a flu, but didn't sound too sure.

She's 4 years old. It's really hard to see her go through much pain and discomfort. She cried so hard when the IV was given, but she really cooperated as I've instructed her ahead. She remained still on the bed. She'd also moan of discomfort and pain on her abdomen on the first 2 nights. Poor girl.

Hello Jure I hope that you and your daughter are fine now. I think you must have been very anguished. Thanks God she is healthy again. My husband has been very anguished too, because a month ago I had an accident and he had to drive me to the hospital, since then I´ve been in bed. But I´m relieving. Blessings to you Jure and your daughter... dainy

Good to hear that your daughter is doing fine now. This is also the first time that I have heard of this illness. Maybe it's some kind of virus that still unspecified here in our country. One of my friend who arrived from Japan had same experience and she was admitted for confinement hours since her arrival. She also experienced severe abdominal pain and was out for the hospital the next day. The diagnosis is also unspecified due to the test result- it seems that she suffer normal abdominal pain, but much painful than the usual.

My friend's kid also got sick similar to your daughter's ailment after swimming in a public swimming pool. The doctor said he must have swallowed or drank pool water which was dirty. He had fever, had LBM, and was also vomiting. It was a case of amoebiasis. You have to be careful in bringing kids to pools or beaches because they sometimes swallow dirty water there.

I am so sorry to hear that your daughter was sick. It is great that she is feeling better now. I do know the stress of having a child in the hospital. I have been through that a few years ago.

So, it was the viral flu that hit your kid. Anyway, it's good that she has finally fully recovered.
