What should I expect in a work as an auditor in a big audit firm

I am planning to work for an audit firm (I'm deciding between SGV & KPMG) and I'm a nervous type when it comes to interviews. To overcome this I hope someone could guide me as to what I should expect in interview and when I am hired. Does anyone have important pointers? And I'd like to ask how much does a newly hired auditor would earn a month in Philippines. I currently earn around P600/$13 a day. There was this question in my past interview and I don't know what to answer. I had an interview before and I wasn't hired because I was so nervous I made several mistakes in answering the interviewer (like irrelevant answers and taking too long to answer). I hope I can change this and improve myself but I'm haunted by how I failed in my previous interview.

I worked with KPMG in my country. They are good, they give some very good facilities to it's employees. Other one i am not aware of. You should get through KPMG interviews, though i never found their interviews tough, but their work is. They are very perfect when work comes. They cannot tolerate slow work, delayed work etc so your performance is based on the way you do your work. For any interview one thing i know is you should be very confident, does not matter if you answer right or wrong but be confident. Second thing is study about the company before you go there to work, like study when it established, it's employees, awards won, how it works. etc some simple things about them will throw a good impression when in your introduction asked why you are here, you can easily give some good qualities about the company. So that it shows you know about the Company. Third study your basics of audit thoroughly, they will dig and ask you. Also practice to speak at home. Simple and little things you correct and these are the only things that will help you a lot. Best of Luck

Wow, you worked at KPMG? That's awesome (sorry, I should started with thank you for the great advice but I'm so happy that someone from the companies I admire for meritocracy has responded for me. I will do research about the company. About audit, will they ask with theoretical questions or will they make me compute auditing problems? Thank you so much for your response :) By the way, I'm curious, what country are you from?

Well they might ask you with auditing problems, but that does not come in initial stage. First they will observe how well you know your lessons. So eat them up probably. Just see that you know everything in Audit. Well i was not working in Audit but for a different department. I left because of my health issues and also salary was not upto my expectations. Now i will be searching some where else, but a little late. I am from India. Thanks for accepting the help.

Okay, I will refresh my studies to be ready. Thank you so much for the tips, I wouldn't have prepared studying if it weren't for you ^_^ I hope the interview in KPMG in India is similar here in the Philippines so that there's no difference in what I hope for. I would be nervous if there are more questions _

oh, i do hope that you get into the job you want. I have heard a lot about the work and the kind of work people have in auditing firms. I have friends who worked for SGV and they sure said and told us that they have work for long hours and though the training is good, the money is not so competitive.

Ah, the training sounds pretty interesting. That would surely be helpful for me since I'm almost as good as a fresh grad. considering that my current work is clerical. In regards to the salary, I guess I'm fine as long as they approve that I still work part time to my current job. Thank you for sharing chiyosan (your avatar is so cute u
