Yesterday i went to visit my mom at the hospital, she has been admitted from last Tuesday. So far she is doing great, just praying that she will get well fast and come home. Last Wednesday i visited her,and she told that a doctor was drawing blood form her an she smell alcohol on him.But yesterday now when i visit her, that same doctor that she mention.Came in her room an was talking to her,and he could not even stand properly because he was drunk. It was a next doctor who come in an start to look at my bother file an talking. How can a doctor come to work drunk, and even looking after patient? I am going to report to the ministry of Health, because he shouldn't be working drunk. What if he give some one wrong medication, wrong diagnosis or something even worse. Doctors shouldn't drink on the job,are even come to work drunk.

Nobody should be coming to work drunk, for that matter. Well, I think you should report it if you happen to see that same doctor again and you suspect that he is drunk. This should never be tolerated. This state could endanger patients under his care.

Why not report it directly to the Medical Association so he could be relived from his profession? I don't think that he could do his job if he will be always in that state. Give him a lesson!

If you happen to see him again, try taking a picture of him and see if it shows any sign of being drunk or something. Maybe a video would be best.

I have report it,I know i have just save a few life.Doctors should not come to work drunk. We are all human being, and we all have problems but their are different ways to deal with problems than drinking. But don't treat people when your in a situation like that. All doctor must have a sound mind,to work so that they know what they are doing. And what they are giving to the patient.I have report it and i just hope,it doesn't fall on deft ears.

That is very scary. I am glad you are reporting it. I'm surprised no one noticed and sent him home. I guess though it would be someone with a high rank who would have to send him home. He probably wouldn't listen to a nurse or maybe even a fellow doctor. He must have a real drinking problem to be drunk at work.

I think his colleague notice, but don't take any action.I told a nurse but she said their is nothing she can do,so i told her am going to report. He must be stress, and having problems if it's so they she should take a leave an get drunk at home.

First of all, I hope that your mom is feeling better soon and can get out of that place. It has been 4 days since you typed this discussion so I do hope that you have already reported this doctor. As a person who is responsible for the health of and the life of other humans, he should not be drinking at all when he is working. It sounds as if he may have a problem since it was twice in a short period of time that it has happened. I have heard of this happening a lot in that field with both doctors and nurses. Pill addiction is fairly common and maybe because of the easy access? I would have left the room right then and there and reported him.

good day tash01, what you have posted is really disappointing. doctors on duty should not come to the hospitals drunk. aside from that, it is not really proper to come and attend to your duty when you are drunk. this gesture should really be reported to the higher officials for their immediate attention and action. or else, this act may become habitual to some especially if the committees will become lenient to reprimand them.

I think his colleague know, because he came in right behind him.Take the file and they the drunk doctor left the room. It is very sad,for a doctor to come to work drunk. When they are in that state, they should stay home. And don't come to hospital to treat and care for people,I have report it an i hope that someone look in to it as soon as possible.

This is very unethical and unprofessional. This kind of doctors need to be sent home. Doctors need to be sober always since they are dealing with human lives.

yes it is unprofessional, and very risky too.Because he can give someone wrong medicine, and take that poor person life. Doctors need to have a very sound mind to work, because they are taking care of human life. I have report it,and i just hope that the authority will look into it the matter an take action. before someone get hurt.

Oh my! it is just about right that you report this doctor and hospital. this doctor cannot practice while is is drunk - not even sober enough to give the right diagnose and findings... let alone care for a patient whose life is at risk by his being irresponsible.

We are all human being, but if your drunk don't come to work to mess up are hurt someone.

Intoxicated doctors is very bad. Any health practitioner or any working person should not come to work drunk. They are more prone to errors and errors specially in the medical field could cost the life of an innocent person. Do report that doctor. He should be called up for that misconduct.

Yes, I think you should report this to an administration for health. This is a very serious case, he could harm his patients becuase of this. It sounds like his colleagues and boss and not taking action for this then it's your job to report this issue.Goodluck.

They should check every doctor when they starting their job. It is very dangerous that a doctor work is working drunk. This is the first time I know there is a hospital allowed its doctor working drunk. The hospital was very sloppy and the worse thing is, it can be dangerous to the patient. You have to report the doctor to the health ministry of the company. be careful of your mom. I hope your mom will be health soon.

I think they should, before they start their duty.Very dangerous, because they can give patient the wrong medication. These hospital in Jamaica need better attention, they should have someone who check the doctors them self before entering to the wards. I have report it,and i want them to take action.

This is absolutely wrong tash01! A doctor should know his responsibilities to the patients and part of it is being on the right thinking while attending to their needs. The hospital and ministry of health should not tolerate this kind of wrongdoings and even cancel the license of the doctor who has been drunk while on duty. Fight for your right before everyone else suffer from this. I hope they will take action once you report this issue. I hope your mom will get well soon!
