Welcome to House of the Rising Sun and the weird workings of my mind

So, there I am walking by a radio that is blaring out that old Animals song, House of the Rising Sun, I'm not really conscious of hearing it but I must of done because I find myself translating it into logical notation in my head and trying to sing it. Something like this There is at least one thing 'x' and for all values of 'y' where 'y' are people, then if 'x' is a house and 'x' is in New Orleans then 'people' call 'x' the rising sun. Where 'y' is a young man then 'x' may ruin 'y' and where 'y' is I then 'y' knows 'x' may ruin 'y' because 'x' has ruined 'y' etc. It is of course very unwieldy to sing and probably contains a few logical errors but still. What odd singing habits do you have? A musical shower perhaps? all the best urban

When talking to an keen Arab Liverpool fan who loved Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, I sang, to the tune of the opening bars: "Liverpool are a load of rubbish; rubbish". Occasionally I might try to sing to the loud tune at the beginning of Beethoven's Choral Symphony:"Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello and how are you today? Yes, you! I mean you!" To the waltz from Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings I performed, singing "I'd like to play the Oompah. Oh the Oompah I'd like to play. If you will get me an oompah, I will practise it every day, I will practise it every day ..."

I'm glad it's to your dogs. Mind you, it wouldn't be to your wives, would it (I believe you only have one?).

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Ha ha ha, well it does happen with most of us when we do not know the lyrics of a song and yet we try to hum it and translate it in our own language and in our own way. This is the best way to memorize a part of such songs and we can get connected with it also. I also do the same thing at times. What say?
