giving gift even there is no occasion?

Yesterday my friend since college visited me.. we seldom see each other since she is now living in their province.. anyways because I really miss her I decided to give her a gift.. I am happy to see that she liked my gift even though it is a simple earrings and a bracelet and made only in beads still she appreciates it a lot.. are you guys a gift giver even if there's no occasion or you give gifts because of occasion? I am a person that give gifts even there is no occasion even if it is simple gift.. it is a way for me to express my appreciation for a family or friend.. how about you guys?

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is so nice to hear that u also gift others even though there is no such special occasion and that speaks how kind hearted and loving u are by nature. i am awed by your gesture and i think there are few people on earth who must be doing such things. i am sure u must be getting immense pleasure by doing so.

Hi Neelia, i think we don't need occasions to give gifts. In our office, i give cards or tokens to my staffs whenever i am pleased with their work. It is something to perk their mood and make them happy all day. It also serves as encouragement for them to work better and harder. Gifts shows our love and care, and concern to the receivers. It does not need special days to give gifts and tell them you care for them.

Even I give the gift to my relatives or friends when they visit my place either first time or after long time to meet me. This is actually not the sort of culture as such but I feel it is like welcoming and remembering ceremony with our dear and loved people.

If you give a gift there is Always an occasion for it. Otherwise it's not a gift! It doesn't matter if the occasion is you like someone, you want to thank someone, a person is leaving for a long time, is sick or you pay that person a visit and say thanks for welcomming you in their house. People give gifts every day of their lives. Personally I don't see the need to give gifts if I a forced to do so because it's Christmas for example.

It's good to give a gift to your friends eventhough there's no any occasion. This shows that you care for them and appreciate them. Your friend might have been done so much for you. In return, yes, indeed, you give your friend a gift. She deserve it so much more than anything. I also like to on and off to give my friends a gift.

there is nothing wrong with giving gift, what is important you do it with sincerity and with open hearts. and if she appreciates it .. good for you. Yes if I have to give something I just give.

Everytime one of my friends visited me in our place I always give them a gift. Last year I came home from work abroad. All of my friends visited me bring a gift on their choice. All those things and stuff are from Saudi Arabia. I am know generous to them so I don't want to destroy my reputation

I sometimes give gifts even without special occasions. Whenever I see something niceand affordable, I buy them and give them to my loved ones. Seeing them happy is such a good feeling. Making people happy is one of my goals in life. :)

I am just like you. I like giving gifts to friends and relatives even if there are really no occasion. But most especially if I have not seen them for quite sometime, I feel I need to give them something.

A friend of mine once said that he is so afraid to let others know if he likes something. So many times he ends up receiving gifts from others who found out that he likes something even if there is no occasion for that. I've known this friend for more than half my life, and I think what happen to him is simply because he is such a sincerely generous person himself.

That is why I am thankful for my online friend who gave me a gift without any occasion. I am very happy because personally, I would give gift to my friends whom I met in line of work or I've get along everyday. But to somebody whom I do not know personally, that could be another thing. But course I also give gift even without occasion.
I am planning of meeting this person in the near future so I could thank him personally.
