on new members sending a pm and wanting to become close via email?

Have you come across new members, I mean those with zero (0) discussion and sending you a private message, asking you to email them and exchange photos, etc., in short wanting to be extra close to you?
I don't like it. I mean, hey, why don't they first do something with the zero discussion instead of sending private messages? I think I smell something fishy here. What do you think?
Is it my paranoid mind working again?

Hi!
Yes, you are right a user with zero post under his belt is NOT supposed to interact with seniors like you without proving that he is a serious mylotter. If you decide not to entertain him/her, it is OK.
I do not accept any friend request from a user who has less than 100 posts. I consider that the user is just passing his time and not serious at all.

You see if you add someone with one or two posts, s/he may or may not turned out to be a serious user.
Once you have added him, it allows him to send you a PM and he could write and request anything from you in his PM.

This happens to me in Facebook but not in My lot. I hardly read my inbox in my lot. This is a discussion site and just discuss beautiful and interesting topics. But it really look weird if some one is sending personal message and asking for exchange of pics. I can agree, if both are responding on each other discussion a lot, than such message make some sense. I would say ignore such messages. Cheers and have a nice day.

That is why i don't accept new members as friend until they reach at least 1000 posts. I know they will just nag you for photos and even phone number.

Nothing wrong for being careful, Cutie! You know how others work here in the internet. There are people who would tend to be friendly at first, but later we will realize that they are not the friends that we really need in our lives.
Not being snobbish, but just being careful, I guess.

i think there were many cases like this where a member would request to be added to my account, and there are times that they would be able to send messages as well.. i think that is common though. hehe i just do not really mind them especially most of what i get are wishes to be a referral. so i just delete them. :D

Aren't they only able to send a pm if you have approved them as a 'friend' (and I use that word loosely)? Better start paying attention to those who request your friendship. If they have 0 posts, than there's usually an ulterior motive, and it's not always a good one.

That sounds a lot like the users who were joining and leaving all sorts of spammy comments on photos a few months ago. You can't report PMs but I'd probably use the contact form to send Mylot a message about it. It seems fishy to me, too.

I have had newer members ask to be my friend here but they have never hit on me or anything. But I'm also more careful with who I accept now here. I had problems with newbies sending me spam...
