I remember growing up, I did liked the novel, its the frt novel I finished in English and I also did enjoy the non musical 1998 movie version starring Liam Neeson, Uma Thurman and Claire Danes.
Now I just watched the 2012 version. which is based fro the musical version, I enjoyed the movie its one of the best transition of a musical stage play into a movie, My only complaint.....
The Main major characters Cossette and John ValJean dont have Iconic songs. They were the lead characters but their songs are forgettable.
When you ask people to name a song from Les Miserables, they only answer 2 songs, I dreamed a dream, and on my own(both Samantha Barks and Anne Hathaway are impressive)
the most Iconic songs were sang, by a character who died early on the story, and a minor character with only few scenes.
The main characters John Valjean and Cossete doesn't have much impact as Eponine and Fantine. they have more songs but their songs dont have much impact.

Yeah I guess the actors and actresses were really not used to a musical that is why the music did not made an impression to you. I noticed there were some songs by Anne that was not that good as well but I could understand that since she is not really a singer. I love the role of Eponine which impressed me more than Anne BTW.

actually, Wolverine....(lol yeah I just called him Wolverine) started at the broadway, Samantha Barks is the current Eponine at Broadway Then Amanda Seyfried is an opera singer, Russell Crowe I think is the only one with a questionable singing background.
So we cant really question Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyfried, I also watched the musical and I really think The characters Jean ValJean and adult Cossette dont have good songs. I think the movie would have been the opportunity to add new songs.
I mean in the Evita movie, they added a new song that is not in the original musical.

I haven't watched the movie Les Miserables yet. I heard many good comments about it and therefore I also look forward watching it. If there is a complaint, then I don't like that it is a musical movies. I seldom watch this kind of movie which is full of songs and music.

It is worth watching, ts just the lead characters dont have iconic songs, the best songs are given to Fantine (Anne hathaway's character) she is like the first person to die. Then Eponine, another minor character,

I suppose, but that isn't really a complaint about the movie, it's a complaint about the musical.
