So tired of them thinking the viewers are stupid when it comes to money

I don't care how rich someone is, they can't just write a check for half a million dollars. They never would have gotten that kind of money much less been able to hang on to it if it is just sitting around in a bank for a check to be written for it. That kind of money would be invested and would be earning dividends or growing in some good investment. This is especially true for Adam since that is how he got rich to begin with. Then of there is the fact that the law looks into any transaction that is over $10,000. Of course this wasn't an illegal thing but it would still be looked at.

Well now, it would take too long to see him go and get a cashier's check or do a wire transfer or something... Anyway, the show isn't about reality, is it? How many times have the recycled the "I had plastic surgery to look like some other character" story line? Or the "I committed a felony and got off scot free" story line? Or my favorite, the "if you would just tell the truth up front none of this foolishness would ever happen" story line.

I am a bit 'lost' here since I am from Malaysia. Do forgive me. Is this a reality show / program that need someone to issue a US500,00 cheque. Exactly, not many people will park this large sum of money in a current account unless they really need it to purchase something big soon. However, we never know as there are all kinds of people in this world. There are people sho stashed so much cash at home, under the pillow, mattress, under the flower pot and inside a biscuit can/tin.

It is a U.S. daytime fictional drama commonly known called a soap opera and this particular one is The Young and the Restless. The character in this particular instance has made his money through investing and running an investment company. In this scene he was giving his about to be ex-wife, as part of an upcoming divorce, the $500,000 which she had just said she needed to start a business. So he just whips out his check book and writes a check. This is not the first time that the show has had something like that happen. For a show like this you can forgive some unrealistic things but I have trouble with ones like this. The money was obviously in a bank or some other financial institution and a supposed really smart person like this would not just have it sitting idle like that.

Well in the soapy world...ANYTHING goes! He could have that much in a money market account, it is only $500,000. THat isn't that much for the wealthy to "have on hand" and still be in a high interest earning account. But it wouldn't have been any good for him to say.."okay, let me call the bank and have them transfer the money to your account" or something like that. I just don't know why she didn't ask for more or take the house, sell it and buy her another one...she is rather homeless at the moment!

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i think u are absolutely right, there is no issue for the rich people in investing money for a good cause. They can spend lavishly on vague things but when it comes to spending for a good cause they take a back seat. This is how they are getting involved in illegal things that is ruining our society. What say?
