Collections

Collections - The framed outfit is the outfit Amyra was brought home from the hospital in. Remember, she was premature so she was in the hospital a long while.

I had a couple of collections when I was younger. I collected unique candles (and I had really great ones). Unfortunately, my sister ruined several of them and I kind of lost heart to keep on since I couldn't spare the money anyway. The ones I had were mostly from my teenage years. My sister loves Hello Kitty. And now my niece Amyra is apparently going to love Hello Kitty too. Do you have any collections? Do you know someone with an out of control collection? I've included a picture that is from Amyra's room, when I was with my sister last week. And that's a small sample of what the entire room looks like.

I collect Pegasus, nothing else really as an adult, but when I was little I also liked to collect stickers.

I used to collect magazines and posters, especially from my favorite singers or actors when I was about 13 years old. It went on until I was around 20 but I had to stop since I had no times to do it anymore. I have sold the magazines now, but I still keep the special editions. Just to keep an old memory how I would die to get them! Oh, I also collected cassettes. But it has also stopped since cassettes aren't really in right now and I don't really have time to collect the cd either. However, what I am still collect now is novels. Especially from Agatha Christie. Whenever I have extra money I would go to the bookstore to buy them. I think this hobby is far better than collecting posters.

i actually have several collections. i love antiques and vintage items and am always on the hunt for neat old things and i shop at thrift stores, garage sales and antique shops (those tend to be a bit more pricey though!) i started off with collecting old books and then i collected old Bibles, then i collected cobalt blue glass, then i collected flower frogs (those are glass globs with holes on the bottom that they used to put into the bottom of vases to make the stemmed flowers stand up straight) now i collect vintage and antique postcards. who knows what i will collect next!

My sister is crazy about butterfly things. She even got a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder (which she now regrets).

I loved the picture and I suppose many of us collected something at one time or another of our lives. I collected stamps and paper napkins, my grandson collected coins and he had a beautiful collection before he got tired of it. I collected dolls from all the world many years ago. A couple of Chritsmas ago I gave away my collection to my eldest daughter as she wanted very much to have it.

I think back in our childhood, we always want to collect things which make and shape us throughout the cores of our maturity. Sometimes, collecting things also is a great way to express someone’s passion on things. I do have some collections myself, however, it’s not Hello Kitty or candles though, it’s a collection of photographs I took from my photography hobby most especially portraits and conceptual photography. I like collecting such pieces because it does shows of my art and craft for photography.

I have a collection of costume dolls from many places around the world. I have bought these whilst on my travels to different places. My first doll I got in Finland in 1990 and my last doll I bought in Brazil in 2012. I collect postcards from the places I visit too. I have some coin albums. Special things I have in that are 3 dollar note and triangular coin. One of my mom's friends has an out of control collection of tea pots.

Everyone in my family when they collect goes overboard! My daughters....one has snow babies....the others cherished teddies....hundreds of them. I have too many collections right now. I downsized my snowmen from over 600 to about 200 right now....still need to work the ability to let my favorites go....I have a teapot collection which I would love to sell but they are not a hot item right now....and I have other collections...plates...yikes! I am in to process of trying to sell some of it now! I think the hello kitty setting is so cute for your niece!

I used to collect cool and different candles like you but they turned out to be just dust collectors and I never wanted to burn them so there seemed to be no point. Now I collect scented candles. They make my apt. smell good and when we lose power, I have plenty of light. Also, it is not a collection that is going to take over and just be cluttery because it is something that I use a lot and am constantly replacing. I also have 3 candle warmers so when the candles burn down to a point where they are useless to light, I use them on the candle warmer as well as the wax melts. I also collect old and odd coins for my 14 yr old grandson. I throw them all in a jar and when he comes over, he sorts them all out. Other than that, I don't collect "things". I used to collect angels back before they were popular. I got over-run with them because EVERYONE bought me angel things. I gave the collection away except for a few that had sentimental value.

When I was growing up I used to collect anything Raggedy Ann and Andy. I had it all, coat rack, curtains, dolls, bed sheets and spread, pictures and so on and on. I still have a few of my dolls but the rest of the stuff has long gone to some other child to enjoy but I still love the charactor. These days I collect coffee mugs with the state on them. I have about 35 of them now so I've got a little ways to go. In time I'll have them all if I don't give up like I've been thinking of doing. We'll see how it goes.

oh that is so cute. yes. my main one has been paper dolls since i was old enough to roughly cut them out. back then they were cuts no just pop them out. i have never lost the passion and its the one thing i about never give away or throw away. my family, the girls are all wanting that and each one claims ive promised them. since i love them so much, when i pass away, there will be arguements. hopefully they just break them up and each take some.

I've never been a collector, either I have not had enough money or I have not had enough time. I do remember that my grandmother had a huge collection of postcards, heavily embossed and dating from around the 1920 I would think. I used to play with them when I was a child as they fascinated me, they were very beautiful. I wish I had them now, they would be worth quite a lot of money.

No real collections to speak of. Thought about it.. but it's always been tough for me to keep the kids away from that sort of stuff. I don't know how people with young kids manage to keep decorations and knick knacks in their house!! I one tried to collect stuffed polar bears.. but the kids got a hold of them. When I was a teenager I started a keychain collection. Had them all dangling from a little wallet, purse thingy. Think I only actually had 1 key.

I know someone who has around 1,000 cat figurines, literally! I haven't seen them personally but I'm good friends with his brother and he told me about them. The problem with this person is that he is a hoarder. He may actually have even more of these figurines but it's hard to tell in the absolute clutter of his house. I'd have to say that his is not a collection, just a hoard. I think that display in Amyra's room is adorable! She is one lucky little girl and so are her parents (and so is her favorite aunt!).
