During my first struggles, I thought I will go crazy or I will go sick if I will miss a church. I am a naturally peaceful and a behave person so I guess I really don't have to be religious. My mother, she is really religious, when she speaks she is always like preaching or delivering a message and funny is she has no major interest in life but religion, I told her about it but she does not seem to notice. Sometimes you will like to say Amen, Hallelujiah! to her. She's weird when she cast out demons -In jesus name when in reality she started all the argument and I don't shout those words when I am angry. Though there is nothing bad listening to Christian radio, she always listen to it everyday but I feel it's too much, you know that, too much christian thing. She will surely get angry when she knows I change the radio to FM secular music station. Now, I find a good excuse to skip church and when she is in the church I enjoy FM stations and it's so fun. I strive to be good to anybody and have devotion every morning but having no religion at all...I never thought it was Possible!

Find your own path here, during your time here. I am a pagan. I will never go back to christianity or any of the major religions. There is such a freedom with being a pagan. You love all things, at the same time, you develop strengths to protect all things. Everyone writes their own book, if you wish. You do not follow one book, but the wisdom of many is at your disposal. everyone is different, and this is my path. I also travel along what others call 'darker' ways, but it's not evil at all. Sadly, there are idiots who pander this stereotype and there is nothing we can do about these sad, stupid people who pretend that they are some kind of pathetic character from a movie. You can spot them a mile off, they brood and are crabby and where pentagrams on dark t shirts. Useless for the most part, and most of us laugh at them. The thing is to find your own way, and have a wonderful time here on earth :) be blessed!

Actually a pagan is one that lives in an unbounded piece of land, a country dweller and only by association a worshipper of local gods. An infidel, strictly speaking is one that denies the divinity of Christ, in fidel, fidel meaning faith i.e. lacking faith. So although Muslims do use infidel in fact all Muslims are, by definition, infidels. The correct term for unbeliever in Islam is kafir all the best, urban

Pagan means exactly what infidel means for muslims. It was used by Christians to describe those who were worshiping other Gods. Today`s paganism is more like a hobby than a religion but it sounds cool to call yourself pagan.

Hey, Nyssa, what is pagan? I mean I hope you don't mind explaining it to me. I'm a Muslim, by the way, but I won't fence myself from knowledge. And I think this "pagan" thing is a new knowledge, or maybe a new term for me. My brother left Islam a few years back and he has his own belief.

At least we have to bear some philosophy that will inspire us to die for mankind, that will inspire us to run thousands of kilometres for the welfare of mankind. At least we must bear some philosophy that will make us not to be arrogant or irresponsible to mankind. Because my dedicacy to mankind is the only way of my individual emancipation. Do you have that philosophy?

Your right, the philosophy guides a person. Some people are philosophers but not religious. I don't to die for religions sake or anaybody's sake. We die for a great purpose.

Well, I don't about this, but I think not coming to the church won't make you not having a religion. Just like what Mavic has told you that you can pray at home, right? I don't go to church; I'm a Muslim but I don't go to the mosque every day to pray. That doesn't make me lose the faith. And though I'm not that religious, doesn't mean I have no God in my heart or mind. Just like you, I don't really like too religious people, but I won't mock them. I would just stay a little away from them.

Religious people are kind people but because they are religious I am not comfortable with them, they have practices that are boring, they need to be holier than thou all the time but will be shock on how worldly they are at times.

I am a Hindu from India.A devout Hindu, but I seldom visit temples.I read my holy books and chant God's name.Even while responding to your post,I am chanting His name.I follow my religion.I don't hurt anybody physically or mentally and have well wishes for everybody whether they are around me or not.I think, that's what being religious means.Religion has nothing to do with going to places of worship. That's my opinion. If you are honest, truthful, kind and a hard worker, and if you believe in God,I think you are religious.

I look at my religion now as personalized and not institutionalized. I studied in school and grew up in church I basically know all about being good and loving God. I am free to minister and serve the Lord in my own way without waiting for leaders to assign it to me. My religions is between me and the Lord.

i am not religious.. I don't go to church (we don't have it here), I don't pray the rosary (but I have). I don't like priests because they are boring. but I don't make fun of people who are saying Amen, Hallelujah, Hail Mary, Our Father.. and so on. EVen the people here putting incense on street praying for Buddha. I am okay with people knelt, hands on the prayer position, and being blessed by the monks in the street at the middle of day. that's their belief, I respect them. I don't mock my sister whom I saw praying rosary when she's in bed at night. I saw how God works on her. I know. You have to be thankful that your mother is a religious one and not the one whom you will always see in the Casino and gambling with her friends. you are absolutely right.. It is possible for you to have no religion it is your choice it is your will. It is indeed fine.

I am actually thankful, that is right because religious people are really good in most ways. I am happy that she is not devoted in worldly things. But i guess when not in balance it can be sad too. The Amen and Hallelujiah I like those words but just that I don't like people who are always on the preaching mode.

I have been disconnected from my church since I married my husband and to be honest,I miss going to church sometimes. Although I'm not the type who attends mass regularly because to be honest I'm really lazy attending mass but there are times that something in me is very eager to hear preachings, like it's a food I need to eat.

Right now I want to fellowship with people not necessarily in church settings but outside. I seek message and preaching in TV, the internet, christian books and radios and I don't see a point or need to hear a generic message or another message because I believe Christianity is not just about how many message you hear in your life.

But I believe if you are a new believer or has not attended church early in your life, you need to attend church regularly. For me it's like a school, I've spent long years of my life learning at church I think I can graduate from it.

Hi averygirl, Of course you don't need religion to be a good person. It took me a long time to discover this but I'm so happy that I finally did. A person who is completely hooked on any one particular religion and is always talking about it is very hard to live with. One who feels that religion is a personal thing and has no need to try to convert others is okay in my opinion. Blessings.

It took me long to discover it and I still observe it's effect on me and I don't see consequence so far for abandoning religion. I appreciate that it's possible at this time. I love all people, I love God but no rel. activities for the meantime, just regular things normal people enjoy.

As a Chinese, I was taught to choose communism as my religion. Now being a grow-up, I think with no religion may be much better than own communism as religion. When I feel anxious or angry, now I try to visit temples in the city, in which I can calm down and find the peace of my heart, even it is template. I find that I can not trust anything and anyone easily, I do not like this, but I have to deal with it.

You know we need temples or shrines to visit where we can pray and contemplate since God is a spirit and some place can be sacred for religions activities.

No problem, if I were you, I have no problem with her, that is her choice to be in what religion she wants, except is she don't have one, then I am worry. Be patient with her, she won't do anything except praying everyday.

The way that you are living your life right now is similar to the way that I am living my life. However, I don't think that I would ever be able to say that I have no religion because I really do feel like despite the fact that our family doesn't choose to go to church that it means that we don't have any religion. I would say that our family is as Christian as the next family, but we just don't express our believes in a church building. This seems to be something that works out really well for me because I see some things in every church that I've ever been to that I don't necessarily agree with and that is the reason that I choose to not attend a church community.

See, before we connect attending a church to being a good citizen or a good person. But now, what's the difference? I can be bad while going to church and I can be good without attending any church. It's just a tradition.

Ha ha ha ha Too much religious is bad. I mean its fine to be religious but not too much! My mom is like your mom. She is like a preacher and she would get angry, and her favorite words is "you go to hell!" -- all the things she sees is evil to her like any horror movie. My brother has a collection of DVD Horror movie and she wants to burn it! She told him that its evil! While her religious book is keep hidden on her room and there are many of them. When we had this financial crisis and we finally decide to sell some things at home, I told her that she might sell her religious book. Maybe we could benefit it. She does not like the idea of selling her religious books. It is because those religious books would save our lives from hell. Anyway, I understand what she's doing. I don't know. Its really hard to comprehend. Maybe we're just have different beliefs I guess.

I don't like really that she is so religious for her own goodness too. Sometimes I am embarrassed with our neighbors because we have the loudest Christian radio all day long. We are poor compared to our neighbors and I told her we should not appear to be so religious because other people are better than us but are absolutely not very obvious with their praying and preaching.

Religion and spirituality are two different things. You can still be spiritual without being in a religion. However, you can also go religion shopping. There are many religions in the world. You can try out different ones and see if one works for you. As to Christianity, there are numerous Christian sects. If you still consider yourself to be a Christian, try out different churches and groups. It is called religion or church shopping. You might find the right group or church for yourself. I have explored many faiths and I think that I am the better for it. I enjoy learning about other person's beliefs.

I want to the idea of religion shopping, just to compare and see the pros and cons. If I am to choose some religion are very strict and it takes away some freedom. That means we can explore as much as we want.

I also have a religious mom but she is fair enough to understand I am a free humanbin and have righ of choice if I want to be religious or not... I love jesus alot from my childhood howany that I am a Muslim. there was a time for me in life that I judge people around according to their religions and for that i was that much angry on my religion and family that i decided to marry out of my religions and to be far from my country and family... Now after suffering alot, I could understand that all religions want to teach us only one thing and that is to be humanbin and to be good . we are all children of Adam and all are humanbin accepting love and humanity is the greatest religion for each of us...

Going to church specially on Sunday should always be a joyous thing to do my friend. Besides , it's one of God's ten commandments that is in the Holy Bible. One need not have a religion in life to be happy. As long as one believes in God, religion is not needed. Funny that your mother is so overly religious, but not putting it into action. So, maybe you should go to church another time as your mother's , so you can enjoy the radio, my friend.

Even though I said that church is really good, having religion is good and I will still go to them. What is bad is when someone becomes very religious and it makes you a kill joy. Sometimes she would look at secular noontime shows as bad because the people are so happy and clapping here and there but not in the church, sometimes it is not healthy to be full of religion.
