Too Early To Retire

Yet too old to find a new employment. This is the present situation of my husband. Like me he is working in the government. But lately, their agency faced several problems and as a result, the agency decided to reduce the number of personnel. A new plantilla was released that for every post (field office), one personnel will be assigned. They were 3 in the field office where he presently assigned and he can be chosen to stay. But the problem is, with a large area covered, he knows that he cannot be able to do the job alone and might even result that clients will file a case against him if the work was not done on time. So he made his decision to avail of the early retirement package. All of the personnel in his present assignment actually availed of the package. My husband is only 47 years old. This is my problem as of now because I have to work alone for the family. Nevertheless I am still hoping that we could be able to provide our children a better life. Have a nice day everyone!

Why not open up a small business at home. I am sure that it will help you with your daily needs. Take advantage of the election period. Look for running candidates that needs some election paraphernalia. I am sure you would earn from it. Just go to Divisoria for all the requirements.

Well, he doesn't really need to have that much knowledge with computers. You just need to know suppliers and then have things printed from a place near you. Piece of cake, don't you think? Well, your husband should meet my husband. My husband knows a lot of people who raises fighting c0cks. He also breeds himself.

So you mean some sort of contract work? I don't have any idea about that really. I thought the people would just go directly to the printing shops to order what they want. Thank you for the information Jen. We will try to study about this. es we should really take advantage of the election because candidates will surely spend that much for their campaign needs.

You think fast when it comes to business ideas jenny. I admire you for that. I think that would fit my skills if only I have enough time. But my husband doesn't understand about computers. Maybe we can just open a small business which is related to his skills and that is about breeding ro0sters being used for c0ckfighting. Thank you for additional information provided herein.

That's just horrible and scary too. Can he retire with benefits at such a young age? The stress must be enormous on you.

Hi PQ! He will be able to receive some benefits but not as big as when he was able to reach the proper age for retirement which is 65. I really feel sad and problematic but I don't want him to lose hope so as much as possible I don't want to show him how I feel about it. Hopefully we could be able to continue supporting our family with me working alone. Thank you for sharing!

Hi ARIES, Forty-seven is a bit young for retirement but there are usually part time jobs that he could get to supplement his income, at least that what seems to be happening with a lot of people here. I'm not in favour with cut backs that put too much work on the remaining employees. Blessings

Hi pose! That's true. It's a critical age because considering the amount of job seekers nowadays who are with high educational attainments and are younger. Well anyway, life must go on and we have to make us of what is available for us to start a new business. Have a nice day!

I feel agree with your husband. A lot of these companies want to let people go, and the remaining employees have to more work for the same or lesser pay. He's right. He might have been walking right into the fire if he stayed. However, it may not be easy, but I think that your husband is still young enough to find other employment. Even if he went to school for a year and a half to obtain a new trade, he would still be under 50. You can't even get social security here until you are 62. So that's 15 more years he's expected to work. Also, working for the government, he probably has a really good resume. And they should take care of him well. If they don't, shame on him. While he's home, he needs to be the best baby daddy he can be... since you will be the only one going to work.

Hi jalucia! This is another problem of my husband as of now because he don't know about computer and other related things. His job is to deliver letters and he stayed with the agency for 17 years. So he will not be able to compete with the new generation who are knowledgeable on the new technology. Well, anyway, we will perhaps wait for the benefits (Leave credits) for us to start a small business. I have no problem with him staying at home because he is a very industrious person. Thank you for sharing! Have a nice day!

I'm not exactly not your age bracket but I can relate to the issue. My father is going to have a shot again in a government position. If he didn't get the promotion, he promises to retire and find something that will amuse and make money for him as he wait or receive his pension. My mom is bugging him about this since she holds the philosophy of uncertiancy in life. She, on the other hand, had tenure and she could easily find her by her qualifications (every employer of hers wants to extend her or bride her into staying) so she won't be out of work soon. Also, she's the type who gets lucky on jobs so I think she'll be working beyond her retirement eyars, seeig taht she loves working. I guess your husband faces a double dilemma - the fear of being replaced due to retirement or even cutting his job. We all know that asmuch as we love ourjobs and its beenfits, it's never up to us when it comes to duration of service.

He has the option to stay but his fear was since he will be alone if ever, how could he do the work alone the work which is supposed to be done by 3 persons? He was afraid that he cannot do the job. So he grab the early retirement package offered by their agency. Having our own business will probably the best that we can do as of now. Thank you for sharing!

That is the kind of situation I am facing my friend, Although I am 42 this year, I am far too young to retire, even on medical grounds, as you know I have clinical depression and acute anxiety, but I still need to work, and yet my age is against me when I do try to find work, not only that but I don't have the right qualifications to get me onto the right ladder, not when I have to compete against younger candidates who have A levels and have higher qualifications. So what chance have I got, being forty odd is a funny age when it comes to employment my friend.

If I were you, you can tell your husband to join making money online. All you have to do is teach your husband in basic money making online. He should be successful if he follows your path. I know you have expert column and absolutely Mylot plus your Clixsense. I do not know if you earn big in Clixsense. I hope your doing well in making money online like Mylot.

He he. I tried to teach him to use computer before. He broke a mouse and he stopped because he is so afraid that he might break another. He also has his own strategy on how to make money so I will just let him do what he might find easy for him. Thank you for sharing!

hi my son is 53 and also too young to retire and hes working as an electronic repairman when he was trained and was a qualified computer programmer. So He now makes fifteen an hour instead of his thirty and he is at least being put on full time. But it hurt my moms heart to see him have to go backwards just in order to live but jobs in the comupter programming area where in companies where theyused to hir are not hiring and are in fact laying off people.Although he did not work for the government he did have a good job as a programmer til he got laid off. then later they wanted him back part time and he was too angry to even reply to them.He is happy now just to have a job as he was o ut of work for a long time. I hope things wo rk out better for you now and maybe he can still find a decent job.Sad to think he started out working as a electronic repair man. oh well now days a job is really a job. take it.

Hi Auntie! Yes we are planning to have a small business after he received his benefits which hopefully soon. He is also planning to run on the coming barangay (village) election. Tank you for sharing your story with me auntie. It gave me some relief. Actually, I have been thinking about our situation day and night. Although if I have to analyze our situation we are better than the others, his office mates especially , because I have my job. And we only have two children my son is already in college and my youngest is in high school. This is life and we just have to live with it. Thank you for sharing!

He will certainly find a way in order to give what is needed for his family. He was the one who supported me with my studies before so I know he will not let things get hard for all of us. Although I have some worries I am sure who will try his best to find a source of income. However, online matter is not for him. Thank you for sharing wong!

Obviously your husband cannot spend the rest of his life without a job. My advice also would be that he should look around for one and accept whatever comes his way. If he had not already accepted retirement I would have suggested that he continued till he got another job.

Hi allknowing! Yes he should really have to have another source of income otherwise we will be buried in debt. About the retirement, they were offered a much bigger benefits if they have to avail of the retirement package until January 31 of this year so he availed of it already rather than waiting to find another job before retiring which might cause him more problems. Thank you for sharing!

You can use his retirement money to start a business related to his skills or what he knows. If you don't make that money grow, it will soon dry up and that's when the problem will start.

Yes that is right. We have to think of a way so that the retirement benefit could last a long way and to grow if possible. Thank you for that wonderful advice cutie.

I hope for the best in your family Aries. It will be really a hard decision to make since as you have said quite early to retired. Well if his work will suffer and as well as his reputation in work I guess retiring will be an option. I guess putting up a business from the retirement package he could get could be an option too. This is quite a hard decision to make. Pray and hope for the best.

Hi hereandthere! I have been paying our SSS contribution for years now. Because even before, I know things might not always sailing out smoothly. At least when we retire we will get two pensions. Personally I only need a couple of years in order to complete my required SSS contribution which is 120 months. But of course if I will still continue if possible. I think he is planning to enter into politics. Thank you for sharing!
