Honestly I am not really a fan of watching plays or any broadway shows, though I missed the chance of watching the play of Les Miserables especially for a fact that our fellowman popular artist which is Lea Salonga was one of the cast who played for the role of Eponine. Because of her powerful voice the song of On My Own became remarkable to the public until it became a favorite song for some people. Only to realized on the movie itself that Eponine is not the main starring and the song of On My Own didn't give that much impact to me like a remarkable song for the whole movie since it was really different from Lea. I can't avoid the fact of comparing it since Lea Salonga had given the great impact on that song during the play. At least now I am matured enough that can relate into a movie wherein I wasn't bored on every single scene even if the performers are singing on solo basis then it still interest me to understand the story and it's message. The way Anne Hathaway sings doesn't give me 100% impact maybe because I was used to hear the actual on stage plays that most of the time the voice and every single word are totally clear which is different from the movie. But what I like the most is her acting skills on how she projects her emotions while singing and her facial expression that can be transform into different aura. Anne still meet the most important demand of being an actress on film that is why no wonder that she is one of the most popular celebrity. I really find Russell Crowe to be the strongest and powerful voice in terms of singing which I appreciate it while as I've read on the other forums they find him as the weakest. Maybe this is the effect that I wasn't able to watch the musical play. The production itself was really attractive and can be pleasing to the eyes of viewers. As I understand the whole message of the story it really reflects me on how the people suffered during the ashes of war when they have also encountered the starvation. Just like Fantine she was forced to work hard to the extent that she is willing to give her soul that can suffer her dignity which causes her depression until she died.

It was a story of survival in the hardest time of one's life. Irregardless of how strong your voice or how good you are in acting the presentation and the role of your act in the play usually is the stumbling block. A strong voice match with a good song and lyrics make a person adorable.

I also watch this movie recently, and it was attract me how people are going through at the era of that period. How a parent suffer so much for the sake of her child. How a guilty man seeking for a second chance to redeem his sins. We are all sinned, but how many of us actually realized it, and how we gonna mend the wrong to right? There were mixed message from this play, or this movie, and although I am not favor singing play, I still like it though.

I watched this movie twice and truly enjoyed it. I hope I can watch the play in UK. In actual fact when I was in London in 2008, I wanted to watch it but my husband not interested as he said he can't appreciates play well. I learn to apprehend lives during the French revolution and the poor society.
