I heard several airplane accident happened caused by birds. Just recently an airplane from Russia was crushed due to a bird that entered in the engine room good that all the passengers were all safe. Also in the Philippines one of their AIR BUS owned and operated by Cebu Pacific was nearly crush to Death due to a bird that enter into one of the engine, in Spain, Rome, England and other countries, birds are flying freely almost within the air route. It was also published and shown on Television just recently that the birds sanctuary is located not far from Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippine and as such the Government is spending a large sum of money to drive the birds away from the fly zone.

I am not sure that an airport would be the ideal location for a bird sanctuary. So many accidents could happen to take the lives of thes sepcial species of birds when they could come into contact with airplanes and the technology that move them. A bird sanctuary should be in a more secluded place for birds and bird watchers to enjoy.

Airports have no choice. Birds either like enclosed spaces or open spaces. An airport is an involuntary sanctuary since many airports are literally built on swamp lands.

Hi, You are right. We always hear the news about the plane accidents because of birds. Bird sanctuary should moved from the place near the airport and it should be reallocated elsewhere.

Personally you would think since this poses such a danger, that more airlines and airports everywhere would be more aware of this, and want to prevent more accidents from happening. But you know unless the warnings are put out there due to accidents that have happened, usually no one ever thinks about it. Scaring them away would be ideal to protect the plane, passengers and everyone around there.

I know that birds near planes can be very dangerous. An accident can happen and it would be due to the bird life. At airports much money is spent to discourage the birds. Birds like to make nests and fly in the air. I saw a program about an airport and rook birds were trying to nest at the airport. They had to act drastically to stop those birds unfortunately. I feel sorry for the birds. I am a keen traveler and complete safety is essential. I hope that birds will stay away from airports and passenger will remain safe. A plane is an expensive product and an airline doesn't want damage from birds.

Hello teo, Was going to mention as well that there are flocks of small birds here that fly straight up into the air and if they were too near to the Airport where we are they could be a danger to themselves first and everyone as well. So I think the use of Hawks to scare them away is a good idea but not for the Hawk to be trained to kill them all as that is a bit of a silly idea. Have seen a few trainers train those birds to kill but in a vicious manner. Being right out into the country you see these birds continually flying in formations and you think how good it is that we are quite far from any Airport.xxx

I work at an airport and wildlife sanctuaries are not uncommon. The actual danger to aircraft is where flocks of big birds that fly in unisome occur during a flight arrival or departure. Aiurports have come up with different ways of coping with these birds such as pyrotechnics and predators such as hawks, falcons and eagles. These sanctuaries are away from fly zones but that doesn't mean that they are fool proof. Aircraft can sustain a few bird strikes but not a flock that is the danger.

They should move the bird sanctuary away from the Airport. Birds are dangerous so it would be easier to move the sanctuary that spend money on shooing the birds away. People assume that all animals and birds are good, but birds fly by instinct and when they built that sanctuary, the birds found a new route to fly and it happened to be in the path of the airplanes. Whereas if they had remained where they were, there would have been no problem.

Hiya teo, Those birds should be moved away from there yes for their safety and everyone else too. In some Airports they use the Hawk to keep the birds away but I suppose that they do not do this in all the Airports all over the place. There is a Stork Reservation being threatened here too by a similar kind of thing. They are rare species and although they fly to the North of Africa when they come back they nest in this Country. xxx

Bird Sanctuary near a airport is a clear danger to so many lives. I have already heard about many accidents due to this all around the world. The Government should move this Sanctuary away from the airport as soon as possible. I wonder how the Government allowed to build Sanctuary near the airport.

I guess relocation of bird's sanctuary is the best solution to avoid accidents instead of placing them near the airport they should be placed away from the city for hassle free and avoid disruption. Furthermore the government should need enough funds for transfer of it's sanctuary and time to fully avoid such incidents. Prevention is better than cure.
