My procrastination is a really serious struggle in my life. I always find myself delaying the most important thing I should be doing. It frustrates me even more because I know I am procrastinating and yet I continue doing it. I have been telling myself that I will do this right this time. I always pump myself up to go and do what I need to do...but then, even waking up early and sticking to the schedule I made is freaking difficult but this is not he end of it...I won't give up. Fact: you are your own enemy!

Very true. But then most of us are guilty of this including me.Sometimes we prefer the present state more than the working or hard working state.A desire to be relaxing and to be complacent is there in all of us to certain extent. And that is starting point of all trouble. But then there are times, at which i have decided i am doing things right now.And that includes mylotting right now as well.Well,we need to act now then act later. When such a decision reaches our brain and soul, there will be no more procrastination. Thanks!

Myself and hubby are procrastinators. I put off things i know i shouldn't like paying bills or cleaning house. Tho lately i have been better about this because i say it has to b done or else the bill will be late. Or if someone comes over the house needs to be cleaned. Saying things like this and picking a time it should be done does help.

Congratulations on dealing with it better, I am getting better at fighting it myself nowadays. I tell myself that nobody else will do these things for me and imagine what I'd look like if nothing is finished!

Now this is a topic I am sure many can relate to. I myself, deal with it from time to time. One thing I know is that beating yourself up about will only beget more procrastination. Try looking at it this way...Is what you need to be doing beneficial to your life? How is not doing it holding you up from something you want? Is it mature to not do this. Is it the adult thing to do this or to just continue to put it off? How would and adult handle this thing I need to do. Am I an adult or am I a child still needing someone to hold my hand and tell me what needs to be done? This is how I combat procrastination when it attempts to stir me. I think to myself, how I'm an adult and adults take care of business. There will always be time for play, but business is first. It ensure livelihood so I can play later. I'm glad you brought this topic up cause there are a few things I need to be working on right now. I hope what I said is helpful and not offensive.

Thank you for this, it is helpful rather than offensive. This is actually the truth even some don't want to admit it but we have to be responsible adults.

Hi there Vnyard, With regard to your post, I am not exempting myself with this attitude. As there are times, I am also doing this especially that I am working at my own pace. I guess, this is one of the disadvantage of working at your own. Though I am not saying I have the luxury of time but procrastination is one thing that I am also struggling.

It is probably just human nature to procrastinate because of all the buzz happening around us sometimes it's not because we don't want to do the things we have to do but we just can't figure out how to start or which one to do first. Being mentally organized is really an advantage, I think.

I am a huge procrastinator too :P I find that like you I cannot follow a schedule (study, run etc). What I normally do is I write down tasks to do and make sure I complete a set number of them each day. It doesn't have to be done an exact time, but I force myself to do it by that day! That's how you avoid the guilt of not doing something that day - if you stick to finishing a set number of tasks, you will eventually get around to doing that task that you were procrastinating about!

Thanks for sharing this. Nowadays, when I start studying I keep a log book where I time in when I start and just enjoy the things I learn as I go through it instead of thinking that studying is a task I just have to do. I log out when I finish and list the things I covered. I also cross out the days on the calendar before the day ends to remind me that I am sticking with it everyday. If ever I don't get around it during a certain day, I cut myself some slack instead of feeling guilty about it. That way, I don't have to feel as if I've let myself down and start doubting my being focused. When I look back at this things, I am actually proud of getting to do it.

Give yourself a reward if you did something that frustrates you, looked difficult (or is difficult for) to you. I think we all recognize this for a big part. What is most important to us we need to find the courage for to handle it/deal with it. So we "waste" our time with doing all these other "important" things we need to do as well.. and the day is over...

Very true my friend.I am facing the same issue as well and sadly realized these things now.I would like to make up for lost time and is trying hard for the plans and things. But then there are times things have been tough on me.I have stopped now with procrastination and doing things right away.Besides, i am not waiting for things which can be done today for tomorrow. Its sort of attitude change.I do not plan for tomorrow , rather for today. In fact, i did few things which i had planned for next week, today itself.By end of things, i felt happy that its completed and now i can take care of the dynamic things that would be coming up.I have found many times in crunch situation due to the dynamic things. And for me too it has been a struggle.I hope i can turn it around this time .Small and resolved steps will help me move towards things. And sometimes i feel i have struggled in my life badly.I need to pump up better in life and also well i need to defeat the enemy in me.And this time, i will and move to a be a better and handsome more me.Hopefully in a few days or months, i can reach my goals well and get the things going .Hope you will reach your goals and things in coming days. Thanks!

Hi5 I too have that same problem. Its just that I'm not worried about as much as you are. I've felt that this habit is one of the important characteristics defining my life and I could never change it. It would be something against my morale :P

I believe this is a common problem for many people. I suffer from this issue myself. The odd thing is that I feel as if my last minute work is much better than it would be without the pressure. So I guess I've justified my procrastination in my own mind. Does anyone else feel this way?

Most of the time, I'm like that...when someone gives me a deadline or something, I feel challenged, lol
