the the training needed to be the Sheriff

Hi I have friends who are cops from
local city ,town cops and Sheriff depautys
all of them had to go to some type of training
to be a cop. say you want to be the Sheriff
let say you have money to run for Sheriff.
The person who runs for Sheriff does not need any
kind of cop training, this is not a joke
just a good campign to win.when in I live in Florida
this one guy who was running had no cop experince at
all ,he did not win, but he was able to run.
I all so ask a friend of mine a ne wyork is the same way
no cop experinec of any kind needed to run for Sheriff of the county.
what do you think by the way the Sheriff report to know one,the county is his or hers.

The sheriff is an elected official and to run you do not have to have police experience, but you do have to have some knowledge of law and procedures. You also need to have some knowledge of administrative duties, after all you will be running a department. I want to run for sheriff, but I was told that you have to have a degree in criminal justice and if you get elected you do have to go through the police academy. They are trying to change the qualifications for being the sheriff.

Hi every county has different procedure.
In fl. There was a Guy.running for sheriff.
His only back ground was getting arrested
A lot no joke his family has money
So GE never stay in jail.but he.did
Have business experience.
he did.not win.and you are right
About the academy. I have a few good
Friends who are sheriff deputys in NY
OK have good.day.
