Hello Filipino Mylotters, especially to those who already took the Civil Service Exam Pro or Sub-Professional Level. I am planning to take the exam this April 2013, and I am ready to pass my application by next week. However, I am still undecided on what level will I take. I both qualify in any of the two levels. I am now an incoming 4th year computer engineering student. To those who already took the exam, can you give me details and hints about the exam? Thank you mylotters.

Many time I've planned to take Civil Service Exam but until still pending. I already buy the reviewer but only the first page I read. I been working abroad already and it seems not necessarily required for us to undergo that kind of exam. Although, many time postponed but still I will take the exam if given the opportunity, I mean if I have time.

Maybe yes, you don't need it anymore caure you are working abroad. Given also passing a licensure exam doesn't need a civil service exam anymore. Maybe, when you don't have take and pass a board exam, civil service exam is badly needed when applying for a government position.

if you feel you are prepared to take the professional level, then so do it. there is so much to gain if you pass the professional level. you can now apply to tenured positions in the government service. i see no point in taking sub-prof when you are graduating in college. it is advisable that you go straight to professional so that you will have more time to apply in various positions in the government. i wish you the best.

I agree. I didn't take the sub-pro, I took the professional exam right away. And it benefitted me more because when you are already working, sometimes you wouldn't have the luxury of time to file the paperwork once more and review for a bit. If you want to build your career in a government office right away, just go for the pro. My mom took both and she said the level of difficulty isn't that great anyway but of course the professional exam covers more. But thats about 10 years ago, so things might have changed a bit. Let's wait for some other mylotters and see if theres anyone who took both, maybe they can advise you better.

hi there! i think when you qualify for the both levels, you should probably take the professional one. i am sure you would be able to pass the exam, that given you are an engineering student, so i think you should have no worries when it comes to the exam, and yes at least a lot are still fresh in your mind. =) I have friends who took the exam and well they sai it was really easy. you have to know bits and pieces about current events, the current offices secretary and be able to name them (there are such items in the exam. Goodluck and please do keep us posted.

If you want to take things 1 step at a time you should take sub-prof first but if you have plans of working in any government agencies right after your graduation you better take prof. level and do not waste your time with sub-prof. good Luck!

if you qualify to take the professional (you have not graduated yet why are you qualified) hmmm anyway if you are qualified to take it take the professional exam. i had successfully passed both however i took the subprof when i was still in college. professional level is more important that sub prof so to save time, effort and money take it. good luck and do your best

Hi erjnsimon! If you can make it to the professional level, then do it. You can use it especially if you are planning to enter government service. Good luck!
