My son loves watching looney toons now. It was really fun watching it but I realized that is was showing simple acts of violence. I told my that I found it was not good for kids and she agrees with me because ot was almost hitting and doing violence. Now we removed the said videos for ourkids to watch. Instead we searched more on educational and child-friendly videos especially those teaching how to read a 3 year-old toddler. What are your thoughts about this matter mylotters?

I agree with you, even my husband said that these shows were made for adults or maybe older kids. I once tried to let my 2 year old watch it and she was really laughing while watching it but then she's kinda imitating it as well, that makes it a bit alarming for me. So we switch to a different show and luckily she likes Barney. =)

My son loves watching those shows but did not imitate them. He will just imitate what they are saying and not what they are doing. Good thing he does not became violent when watching the said videos.

Looney tunes, tom and Jerry, Walt Disney, they all showed violence in their first cartoons but everybody knew it was also NOT for real. Nobody had any doubts about that. BTW cartoons were made at the first place for adults not for children. That is what changed in the past years. The first films Walt Disney made were also mend to be for adults, not children. The style was way better, so was the (classical) music/singing. And if it comes to cartoons or animé they all are full of violence, no matter what kind you watch. It's all about fighting, agression, a lot of "shouting" coulours and noises that drives one crazy. So I think it's a good advice to check what your children are watching and how they look upon it. For sure is that adults see completely different things as children do. Also the older they get (the children) the more or more different things they will discover while watching (the same film/cartoon).

I agree with you. Still, parents have the responsibility of teaching your kids. even they watched violence in TV, they should be guided along while watching. Telling them what is bad a good is a great way to teach them. Better if you avoid them to watched such videos even it features cartoons.

We don't have a tv, so our son hasn't watched a lot of television, except at other people's houses. We have downloaded Dinosaur Train and some Thomas videos onto our computer, and he enjoys those. He also sometimes watches educational youtube videos. I think it really depends on the child. Some children are more likely to act out the things they see on tv.

My youngest kid watches cartoons as well and I have also told him to not watch shows that seem to be non sense. I mean , not all cartoons today do provide any valuable lessons in life. Some I think are even dumb. I would often tell him that the cartoons that I used to watch when I was a kid was really fun to watch and there were minimal to no violence at all. I think that there should be more shows that should help pre-school children in preparing them for school. It does not only make the kids enjoy and have fun , but the parents also have some peace of mind as well ease in teaching their kids the basics in education.

Yes, there are many cartoon that kids like to watch but it was really bringing negative impact to kids. Most of them are really nonsense and they will learn nothing but violence. Now, we just downloaded videos in the net that are really educational and that is the one we let our son watched it daily.

Thats a good idea. Giving kids educational programs to watch. I wish my mom did that to me. And besides, i believe that in the looney tunes show, the characters do not speak straight English. It is better for children to watch shows that speak fluent languages. In my brothers case, we never taught him English, but he became so good at it because he learned the English from tv. He gets really high grades in English class too.
