Don't You Hate It When People Try To Force A Sale On You

i called comcast customer service for my cable connection. i was not getting any channels and i paid my bill. after the customer service rep and i got the problem fixed with my channels. the next thing i wanted to know was why my bill was so high. he explained to me that it was because i had all the adult x rated channels. i told him to take those off, as i did not want to pay for those channels. he instead of just removing them for me. he tried for 10 minutes to upsale me before he finally let me hang up the phone. he kept going into why the other plan would be better. after listening to his upsale, it wouldn't be a benefit to me. so, i decided not to. that was not good enough for him. i hate when customer service people play a dual sales role. i just want the service. if i want to know more about your products, sales, upgrades, etc. i will call and inquire. for now, i only want prompt and correct service. is that how you feel?

We had an agent call round last week, he was here for two hours solid, he was gushing and gave me a headache he was trying to coerce my dad into changing the boiler, we have had our boiler for 30 years and it hasn't given us a problem, but this guy wants us to change it and charge us £4000 for doing it. Fortunately my dad didn't sign anything, but the guy was pushy. Sometimes you need time to digest what you are told or read the literature, the worse thing you can do is to sign straight away, although some give you a cooling off period, but it's more hassle.

i don't mind knowing about new products and offers. it's just that once i tell you "no" it means "no!". that guy shouldn't have spent that long trying to change your father's mind about his boiler.

Hi Moon thank you for sharing your idea. Yes, sometimes I also feel very odd and unpleasant, when the sellers try to influence me to buy things from their shops. If they can sell their goods, then they will be gainer. But they should not force or influence to buy their goods. have a wonderful weekend.

it has been my experience that anytime i am pressured to do something, i find out later that i was right not to take a different route.

I mostly call my bank or network service provider. Although, the bank hardly upsell anything but the network service provider does, each time i call them. I am used to their sales pitch now and I do not want to sound rude to them, as they are just doing their job and I should not be upset every time I call them. So when I hear their scripted, "As a valued customer, would you like to go for a new contract plan/or an add-on to your contract?", I tell them that I am fine and I am happy with their service politely. But they do have a long questionnaire when you want to discontinue their service. Fortunately, I was able to clear their questionnaire at ease when I had to cancel my brother's contract (that was under my name, to avail corporate plan), recently.

I hear you on this one! I hate when they try to sell you something more. How many times do you have to say no thank you? I'm actually screening my calls at this time because people from our telephone company keep calling to sale us another plan or another product. I'm so sick of them calling because they will call at times twice aday. It is getting so annoying. I have told my family I'm screening my calls so please be patient with me picking up the phone.

As a customer, yes, that is exactly how I feel. But as for a customer service representative's side, she is trying to somehow get a sale from every customer that she speaks with. Being a former CSR of an International Bank, I was trained to take calls regarding the account of existing clients, but we also were instructed to somehow, "inject" a little "sales talk" to every customer. Sorry, Hatley, but that is how it is. But now that I am no longer a CSR, I do get fuming mad whenever I am being forced to buy or avail another service.

that's how I got into this mess in the first place! so here's the situation..I had the most BASIC cable you could possibly have..y'all, it was so basic, it was just basic television channels..I called them to upgrade a package up..so this is me going from like $17 to I think $49 or something like that..they couldn't leave well enough alone. Before I could get home, they are calling me wanting me to upgrade up another package. I politely declined. By the time I paid that bill down, they call trying to talk me into a DVR box. I don't know the purpose, cable thrives on re-runs. I declined. A week later, they call me trying to get me to agree to the triple package. This being cable, internet, and phone. I hung up on them. Days later, I am gifted a laptop and my smartphone decided to completely die so now I need both internet and phone. So I cave in and buy the package. This went on for about three months and now I am under a whole new company. It hasn't even been a week and they wake me up every morning trying to push their cable service on me..

It really does irritate people that sales people do that. But here's what I learned. SOme of those who do that get paid by commission. So it's not that they really want you to buy it, they just want to get the big pay off that comes with it. What they don't realize though is that a channel package like that isn't really popular. I mean sure if you're talking to a single guy or a group of young adults but come on even though they're over the phone you can't tell me they don't get a vibe off the other person that a package like that would be useless.

I think the customer service people are trained to not just serve the need of every customer but to do some selling on the side. Your experience happen to me as well and sometimes it really irritates me. But of course, I can't really blame the CSR's because they are just doing job. What I am doing is just to courteously turn down every offer and tell them I am not interested only with the settlement of issue for which I called them for.

I know that feeling very well, as I am forever having people trying to sell me insurance for things, as well as changing provides for things and this is always on the telephone. Trying as well as telling a person that you are not interested in the things that they are trying to sell you is hard, even when you say no I am not interested.

Yeah, you may feel disgusted at this situation, an I quite understand your feelings at that time. However, the customer service representative was also in a bad condition at that moment. Why they try to persuade you to continue ordering these items:they try to keep their work at hand in case of being hired by their boss for their in competence.Honestly speaking, their tongues ignites your anger seriously. As for me, I will let phone aside until the dialogue ends, and then hang off.It is not my intention to express no to your action.

Yes it is irritating always when you don't want to get something and domeobe pressurise you to buy that thing whether you are on a phone or in market buying any thing.I am not been pressurised in phone but in the market by salesman. Its just a kind of force which they apply on us and wants us to buy their useless product. They just show on after the other thing and tell this is good that is good. They just want to sell it either it is helpful or not. They never give up till I am out of their shop. Its really irritating which anyone rarely like.I know one such which forcefull used to sell the buyers that thing and now no one likes to go to his shop.Even i had buyed from him and now I also hates him. They think selling one time their product will helpful but for future they are not able to sold that thing.
