Yes, but they're more 'professional' (both literally & monetarily)---i.e. you don't "sign-up," but you audition-&-audition-&-audition & win a role maybe 1% of the time and you're on casting-directors' minds and get called-in for more-&-more roles. STAR TREK, there's a drama club. how i met your mother (etc.) ... it's like all of television is a big 'drama league' (& local theaters each have their little leagues). And you get in by auditioning for their productions, mostly. I think that introduces you to the people you need to know (producers, theater-owners, etc.) to gain higher positions there (like writer, director, etc.) Any other drama-clubs? Any other ways to join?

In the UK there are a lot of "Amateur Dramatics" groups. By definintion they are not professional but some do have professional standards whereas others concentrate more on the "Amateur" than they do the "Dramatics" Most you get in by signing up and turning up and helping out with productions. You might audition for specific parts but there's usually plenty of roles so you might have a good speaking part in one play and be "second footman" in the next.

Might some of those groups be willing to 'tour America' (i.e. at least come to Oklahoma City University, to spread the 'good news' of Amateur Dramatics)? & BTW, "Amateur" basically means 'doing what you love' ... you might say some of the BEST "professional" actors are 'amateurs' (except for the fact they get paid). & 'professional' basically means 'you say (profess) what you are'---something that's kinda shameful to do if you aren't getting paid for it So you might say I'm a 'professional' International Advice Counselor---not because I get paid for it, but because it's what I say I do ... myLot being an "international advice-counsel," yeah?
