Hi. I believe that since the very first discussion I started here in myLot, I've grown much mature now. Hahaha. I hope you guys think so, especially those I became close with here. ;) Do you remember Spiderman said with great power comes great responsibility...? It's true. When I was just freelancing before, I don't have to worry of the bills and other expenses since my parents shoulders it but now that I have a permanent work and in a quite higher position, I am the one paying the bills already and all the expenses at home. I just told my parents to save the money that they earn to their bank accounts and just mind my siblings' school tuition and other fees. Now, to track where all the expenses go. I made a list for it. The list indicates the date, what was bought, the amount.. It's also a way where I can calculate how much our monthly expenses is. And also, I made a different list for my own expenses. Mostly, it contains my needs/wants like; clothes, shoes and cosmetics. Hehehe! I just feel that I've grown a lot! :) How are you all, by the way? Hope all good from your end. -Eds.

Congratulations! Now you know how to handle your money well. That is actually a good practice. Most especially when you get married, that should come in handy.

I am happy to hear about your story. I also felt the huge responsibility of taking care of some bills in our house. Before, I didn't really bother giving a large portion of my salary to my parents. I told myself, as long as I give something that will be fine but years passed and I've seen my parents getting older every year. I realized that they do not have the capacity to pay for all of the expenses in our house. I am proud to say that I've gained a sense of maturity. I give fixed amount to my parents now. I make sure I give them money every time I visit the house since I am currently staying in a different apartment. I am paying for the salary of our housekeeper. Sometimes I feel the headache every time I try to manage my money and our bills but it gives me a sense of fulfillment every time I help them.

Good for you, and I bet you made your parents a bit proud when you stepped in and took charge of your own expenses. That's also a good thing for you to do for your family, at least they have one less thing to worry about. Like you, I also have a list of my expenses. I always have a budget that I need to maintain if I want to reach my target savings every month. This way, I can avoid overspending and making sure that I get to prioritize buying my necessities first. Then after that if I see that I still have money left over way below the budget, then I can address my wants.

I hope they are proud of me! :) I have made a savings challenge for myself this year. There's this target amount every week to be deposited in my account. So far, so good. It's already Week 7 and I'm happy I haven't touched what I have deposited. Hehehe. I hope it continues.

Aww. That's sweet of you to think that way. Remember, it's the thought that counts. Don't worry my friend. Time will come that you can do things for them. Don't lose hope. Work hard and make them your inspiration.

Congratulations Edsss. Indeed, when we already have our permanent job and there is no one our parents can depend on especially with financial matters, we become mature. You are a good daughter for you are not selfish with what you are earning.God will bless you more for that. Your future partner will also lucky to have a woman who knows how to budget hard earned money. Once again, congratulations!

My granny already did that and I think at her time most people (mainly women/housewifes) did it. It's a way to manage your money and to know how you spend it. I started with it this year again. Mainly because I have to reduce the costs I make (if your income is not increasing the only way to make money is to save money). Needs like shoes, clothes, cosmetics etc I already don't have anymore since years.

Hi! :) Everyone probably does this kind of thing, but not mostly in Philippines. Well, at least to what I know. But for me, I have to start a good way how to spend money in our home. :)

Indeed you have grown matured now ! It is so different when we are already earning because this is the very time that we know the value of money and hard work. You know now to distinguish a need from a want . Keep up the good work , so much more in life that you'll have to know and you'll discover and learn by yourself only. Work and experienced will teach you. All the best !
