There can be many causes, first behavbiour, physical, you name it. Have you taken her to the vets? To wheen out any medical issues. Does it smell stronger, in pain when she goes?. It could also be stress whether it be her own, or within the environemtn. It could also be the food, is she fixed?.

I've bred and raised a lot of dogs. Buy a crate, it should be big enough for her to stand up in, and turn around in. Dogs will not go to the bathroom where they sleep. Keep her in there when you go out, as soon as you let her out, take her right outside. Give her a treat for going outside, let her play for an hour or so, take her outside again. Take her out after she eats or drinks. She will soon get the idea if you are consistent.
Paper training is no good, it teaches the dog to go inside.
Praise her when she does good, and show her when she isn't. Take her to her accident and show her firmly saying NO, BAD DOG.

My dogs loved their crates, dogs like a kennel type area. And it would just be until she was housebroken.
My one dog got to the point where I would just leave the door open on her crate and she would go in and out on her own to sleep.
Most dog trainers agree that this is the best way to house break a dog.

Hello Black Rusty. I hope that you have kept the Cocker Spaniel and that she is now more settled. I let my dogs go to the toilet outside but they do have some dog mess accidents in the night. This began when I bought a new mat. I take the mat off the floor in the night time. My lounge flooring looks like wood but it is lino that is easy to clean. Good luck.
