http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/282105-pelosi-false-argument-to-say-nation-has-a-spending-problem "...Both Democrats and Republicans" in the U.S. "say they want to avoid an across-the-board cut to both military and non-defense programs that looms on March 1, called the sequestration, if no action is taken. But Republicans argue the bill should be replaced solely by cuts to spending, while Democrats want to see a mix of cuts and increases in revenue." Which do you think is best for a government to do?

The best thing the government can do is to start acting like a reasonable entity and start cutting programs. There are hundreds of programs connected with school lunches, for example, most of them duplicating the others' efforts. What a waste of money! Stop funding anything that does not protect our shores from invasion, which is all the government was originally intended to do. Let the states take on the programs that help people, regulate industry, etc. Eventually the states that do the best jobs will be the most prosperous and will inspire other states to emulate them. The entire country would be better off as states compete for skilled workers and the profitable companies to fund their various programs and infrastructure.

But if we cut spending we'll be called racists and uncompassionate! Cut spending. Taxes were raised already. Raise them more and people will revolt and throw Reid and Pelosi AND Boenher in the harbor instead of tea.

Increasing revenue (aka more taxes) has never helped. The more money the government gets its hands on, the more it spends and not necessarily on anything that does any good. Most of it is wasted on pet projects or laws that don't make sense. IF they would make cuts where cuts needed to be made, that would work.

..sometimes I think their pet projects are those which make government bigger and make their party stronger!

The Democrats remind me of a child addict who steals from his parents to feed his habit. The Dem's habit is spending, and no matter how much they get, it's never enough. The best thing to do for someone who is addicted is to break them of that addiction. Cuts to spending is the way to go. Besides, if you look at the effect the government has had on programs like education, there's a good chance things would improve if government was removed from those programs.
