Are fans entitled to receive courteous treatment?

There are celebrities/popular people who got fed up at the fans and started insult them, disrespect them, and make fun of them. It's understandable that fanatic fans(the ones who kept pestering you) and creepy fans (the ones who draw creepy, perverted, offensive fan art p*rn) actually makes you annoyed or irritated. But sometimes do you want the media to tell the whole world about your nasty attitude towards your fans? Unless you are the type who don't want to be like by people, your reputation is ruin. Of course your loyal fans won't abandon you but that's not the point. Are fans entitled to receive a kind and polite treatment regardless? Or do you think that the celebrities/popular people don't owe you anything and they can be as rude as they like?

For the most part, I do believe that fans should be treated with respect. The reason that I think that this should be the case is because of the fact that a famous person really would be nothing if it wasn't for the support of their fans. In other words, if there is a celebrity that is always treating their fans like they are nothing or are significantly a lesser lifeform, then I believe those celebrities that are destined to lose their shining stars.

In general, I think that fans definitely deserve to be treated nicely and politely. They are the main reason that the person is famous ... if fans did not buy tickets to events, merchandise, etc., then the celebrity would not be famous or receiving any income, right? It is kind-of like the fans are indirectly the boss of the celebrity ... they cannot tell the celebrity what to do, but they can hinder the income of that person by not purchasing anything related to him or her. Of course, there are obvious exceptions to this. If the fan is being rude, invasive or threatening, then the celebrity has every right to avoid him or her. I still think that it should be done in a polite way, but there are some people that will not understand if you are not direct and blunt, so there are times when it might be acceptable for a celebrity to be rude to a fan. I think this is an exception rather than the rule, though.

I'd say that this is both the case of being blessed that many people are concerned about your life, that they are with you, happy to see, you, etc... and a curse of them pursuing you and pestering you. I'd say that though some actions of the celebrities are justified, they could at least just have tried to hold their tongues in "trying to say something nasty" to their fans no matter what they are doing. most of those they can just not read (twitter, facebook, blogs, etc) They can just opt not to read anything about them especially the bad ones, and this would eventually not give them reasons to "fight" back. The one whom it is given much, much is expected - so since they have been blessed and if the first plaace they wanted those - fame, money... so they just have to live with what comes with the fame and money they get from their jobs.

If you are referring to those unreasonable fans, then it is understandable if the celebrities behave in a way normal people would. But beyond that, the celebrities should treat all fans politely. Without the fans support, the celebrities would be one in the first place.

Celebrity or not, everybody is entitled a little respect. But if a fan gets out of hand, that it reaches a point wherein the celebrity's life might be in danger, then it is time to make it stop by sending a court order for them to stay away from the celebrity.

i think it depends on the fans attitude or behavior towards the celebrities, especially those who are creepy fanatics. celebrities owe it all to the fans because without them, they would not succeed and be who and where they are. if what the celebrity is showing or doing is just right and what the person deserve, there is nothing wrong but the most ugly thing for a celebrity is to be rude and nasty to everyone or their fans who is just admiring them and not doing anything wrong to them.

I think so, yes, they should also receive the same courtesy that these celebrities bestow upon the "normal" people that they encounter with. There are better ways to handle super fanatics but bad mouthing them isn't one of it. They should always bear in mind that they are what they are now because of their fans. If not for them, all their hard work honing their craft will be for nothing.
