As I am reading the newspaper that Cardinal Tagle is not yet in hurry going to Rome then I realized that he is one of the candidates for Pope that will be replaced to Pope Benedict XVI. Honestly this is kind of overwhelming to hear that one of our fellowmen will be candidate for the highest position in religious authority. According to Archbishop Oscar Cruz there are 3 things that can help Cardinal Tagle to be elected as Pope because Cardinal Chito is intelligent, has good moral values, and his holiness. He is the youngest among the other candidates that he is even not yet a senior citizen that is why I am also hoping that he will be elected as Pope so that he can serve other people around the world in a long term. Though there are still things to consider and being a Pope is still a big responsibility which I wonder how he could handle this kind of position in case that he will be elected. What will be his first responsibility to do in case that he will be elected? I have this other thought if this has something to do in opposing the RH Bill. I am not expecting that he will be a Pope as this is a process of voting the candidates but I am hoping that they will choose the right person who is responsible enough to serve the country. I have nothing against if in case that Cardinal Chito will be elected as I am still having positive feeling for him and I am sure he can handle his responsibility. I’ve met him already during the mass in Rockwell Powerplant Makati City, I find him as a person who has sense of humor, smart and when you are hearing his homily then you won’t be bored.

Cardinal Tagle was the bus boy Bishop of Imus, so called because whenever the CBCP convened, he wore a white shirt and hopped on a bus to Manila, all the time talking with the people, listening to their stories, and evangelizing. It was fitting that Pope Benedict blessed him as Cardinal back in November 2012, for Cardinal Tagle is every inch an apostle, fit, as the whole world recognizes it now, to lead the world back to Christ our Lord. I would pray that the Holy Spirit bless him more, and if ever he becomes Pope, then the Holy Spirit gives him strength to carry one, for the Papacy holds the greatest responsibility of taking care of the Church Jesus instituted for us.

Seemed like he is a wonderful person indeed and is qualified for the job. However maybe what would set them back in choosing him is his age and basically his tenure. =) No one would know for sure, but we are aware that someone will be appointed/chosen to be the next pope in the next few months. I am hopeful that the church would choose a good leader that would continue on... after Pope John Paul, and now Pope Benedict. Have a good day!

I agree the younger the better so he could serve longer for as long as he is matured enough to lead the whole of Catholic church. But then of course the cardinals will have to decide on that in the coming days. Tagle admitted that he is still studying the ways the Cardinal would do when that time comes which is a sign that he is just too young since this will be his first time to vote and participate in such an activity.

I just hope they won't choose it for the matter of age. You see if who is the oldest then probably there is possibility that he will resign for half of decades. I hope they will vote wisely that is according to the credibility if he is qualified enough.

I would be happy to see him voted to be the next pope, but I sincerely doubt if Tagle's reputation in Rome is that strong already to influence the other cardinals in other countrries as well. I think he just been nominated to become a cardinal lately so I do not know how popular his name is amongst the older and more veteran cardinals there in Rome and around the world. But I see him very eligible in how he deals with the current situation of the church. He is very active in evangelizing even through the net and the social networking circle. I think that one characteristic of a good pope is that he is able to mingle with his flock in many ways and internet is a good venue for him to touch so many Catholics around the world. His sermons are very light and easy to understand that is why I have my great respect for him if ever that would happen. But as he stated in the last news report he is still a newbie cardinal and still is learning how things will go in the Vatican during the election of the new Pope so let us just pray they would choose the right one to replace the current Pope retiring.

I agree that maybe our Cardinal Tagle is not yet ready for being a Pope which is more responsibility that he has to face the whole world so he must be then wants to work more as Cardinal which is not also easy. I will be ready for the possible result that it can be and respect their decision if who they really want to replace Ratzinger.

I think he's too young, what the catholics need is the one who can reach more and more credentials than just a pries who can sing andhas sense of humor. believe me, I love the idea of our cardinal being a candidate but it's just way too early, i don't know if he's up to the task

I don't know what are the basis for the bishops or any authority to elect for the Pope which is I am sure it is not always the matter of age but the credentials. I just hope they will vote wisely that the new Pope will not resign right away or he is still strong enough to serve the country for a long term. In my opinion if in case that Cardinal Chito will be elected then that could be advantage because I do believe that he can serve more in long term as long as he will be responsible enough to face new challenges in Catholic world. The plus points that I could see about Tagle is that at least he has appealing factor to the mass people. I don't know if he would be as well around the world if in case he will be elected. Honestly I don't find Pope Benedict XVI as appealing to the whole world compared with Pope John Paul II. In which indeed I remember when I was still a kid, I even approached my parents to go in Pedro Gil just to see Pope John Paul. I was happy then when even that was just like a glance to see him.
