Buying 1 peso coins.

Philippines

I just found out that some people are really willing to buy 1-peso coins just to have something to change their customer with. His rates were P105 for 100 pcs of 1-peso coins. At first, I did not get his point for buying the coins, but later on, I just realized he needed them for change.

Everyone is right. Coins are important in the business. We have a Filipino delicacy store and everyday, we are exchanging thousands for coins because we badly need them. hahaha

When I still had a store, it was difficult for us to find P1 coins. I would always go to Tom's World to change my bills into P1 But later they did not allow me anymore to do it. P1 coins are still very important no matter how small the bill is.

I also find it very helpful in terms of giving change to customers, especially when having people that are ill-tempered.

I think gasoline stations has plenty of coins hence, he could get this from them without additional cost. If he has a vehicle and a loyal customer of a particular branch he could ask a favor to accommodate him on this aspect.

Any single penny especially coins are very important to groceries and other business establishment. I learned it in the news that such shortage is because of Filipinos hobby of earning/ keeping coins as savings.

Hello there!! Its really like this for most of the establishments... i have had an experience with several that they do not have a change. Especially this convenient store mini stop. I think most of the time they would even ask if its okay that they are short on changing you sometimes fifty cents and sometimes one peso. Well i think its quite nice if they would buy you the coins.... where are they ? Haha i might have some change i can sell heheh.

Yes it's very difficult for a businessman especially those engaged in retail if you run out of loose change, for one people would pile up on your store all waiting , it would irritate some so you loose sales and return customers cause they also loose time. For a good businessman it's sometimes better to just sacrifice a little buying coins than giving your store a bad reputation and losing customers.

Hmm,, really? Well he can actually go to a bank and have his money changed for 1 peso coins for the same amount of money that he needs changed. It will be cheaper and will save him a lot. Of course, if he has to travel in going to the bank, I guess he can save more on fare or gas if the one who will break down his money will be the one to go to his establishment.

hello kenshin well for me its a nice strategy though some would maybe can't get what really this at first time. any single peso is so important speacially in jeepneys, groceries and convenient store. they even told my mom if she had a .25 cents that they will exchange it equal to the total amount of .25 cents. I noticed that a lot of stores here has a price of .45, .75, .25 in it and so on. why wouldn't they just have a fix pricing?

coins are very important specially with businesses like restaurants, stores, groceries, etc., it is essential for them because they have to change their costumers and I think now a days coins is hard to find because almost everybody uses bills to pay.. so we have to value even a one peso coin we see..
