I can't believe it. Tonight it's going to be fifth time that I will be watching this film and I haven't made it past the first 33 minutes. Every night I watch it, I make it a little further. This movie just puts me to sleep instantly. I watch it from 30 minute mark and after 2 minutes I'm already sleeping, no joke. OK, it's after hard day's night and I'm really tired from my job. But so was I a few nights ago when I watched Insidious, just like the night before when I've seen The Amazing Spider-Man and night before when I enjoyed Avengers. All three are much longer films and I made it to the end. But this one is different. I think I'll save it for the times when I'll have trouble sleeping and use it as a sleeping pill. And I am Silent Hill fan. I love the games and unlike many, I liked the first movie adaptation. I wasn't mad that they replaced a lead male character with a woman. I enjoyed the pyramid head cameo even tho it doesn't make sense for him to be there. Didn't bother me at all. But the sequel is different. From the first minute you'll see it looks more like a straight to video film. Everything in this movie looks so fake, looks less real and convincing than the video game. Special effects are terrible, especially when you watch those forced 3D scenes on normal screen, it's just laughable. The story makes no sense at all. Somehow they managed to convince Sean Bean to reprise his role (probably contract from the first movie) but he continues his dying streak and this time he sets a new record by dying in the first 10 minutes (It's not a spoiler, he dies in every movie). The girl who plays Heather is not that bad and quite resembles the character. That's all I can say about this movie because that's all I've seen in the first 30 minutes that I've managed to stay awake. Everything looks fake, even the blood writing on the wall. Especially when the world changes in the dark version. It looks fake, there's no buildup, it's just in your face and it's not scary at all. Then every night a loud noise wakes me up and I look at the screen and smile as I see Alessa leading an army full of fake looking monsters before I turn off the TV. This time I will make it to the end. This time I've come armed with food and energy drink and I'll be watching it in a sitting position. Wish me luck. Has anybody here seen this film? How could you make it to the end? Is there anybody who actually likes it?

I saw the preview only of this new one and didn't like and looking at your depiction of the movie I don't think I will. The first I really liked and will watch it again whenever it screens on tv or rent it when I can't find a good movie. It was interesting but I was left a bit uneasy in the ending. Did Sharon and her adoptive mom die? Are they ghosts now? Everytime I watch the ending I am left like ugh what the French do I think a bit sad ending

They were trapped between two dimensions or something like that. Sharon is back in our world in the sequel but her mom couldn't cross for some reason. The story doesn't make much sense in the sequel but like I said, I only watched the first half an hour, I need to watch the whole thing. I'm going to watch it in a couple of minutes actually, hope I won't fall asleep after 5 minutes again:D

I didn't end up watching it. Maybe tonight. Just found out that Carrie-Anne Moss is in it.

Is this the same Silent Hill from that Playstation game? The eerie and creepy one? If it is I think it is also the same movie that I have been struggling to watch but cannot make it even halfway through it. I just get spooked very easily. And with the signature eerie music and foggy surroundings, it is enough for people like me to get the imagination going on hyperdrive.

Yes, it's the same. The first movie was pretty good IMO. I like the way it was shot with fixed camera angels that gave it the feel of the game but it wasn't distracting as a movie. I opened discussion about the sequel but now that I read it, it's just my nonsense rumbling. I shouldn't talk crap about the movie that I haven't finished watching yet but it's just fascinating to me how it can put me to sleep like no other movie before.
