Losing Weight For No Apparent Reason

My husband is losing weight for no apparent reason. He is not consuming less calories. His doctor says this is okay, there is nothing wrong with him. I wonder how true this is. I know some people who have lost weight, and ended up dyeing from stomach cancer. I hope this is not true with my husband. Id' appreciate it if someone has any clues about loosing weight without trying to.

I never thought of that. YOu have a good point there when you mentioned stress. He is depressed because he has back problems and cannot walk as well as he used to. Thanks for your suggestion.

You can always opt to have a second opinion. It is your right if you are not satisfied with the first diagnosis of your doctor. Nobody can deny you that if only to have peace of mind. If your husband doesn't feel anything bad, then that's at least a good indication. But just to be sure, get a second opinion.

I agree with you. If his weight continues to drop, I'm going to consult another doctor or I'll ask his doctor to give more tests.

There are a lot of reasons besides cancer that causes people to lose weight without meaning to. Maybe he's been more active physically lately without realizing it. A hormonal imbalance could cause it, like hypothyroidism. Extra stress can sometimes cause it.
I'm not one to blindly accept what a doctor says, but if there have been proper tests run and the doctor still says there's nothing wrong, then don't worry. If it's hormones or stress or something like that, it will show up sooner or later.

What kind of tests were given to your husband for the doctor to conclude that your husband is healthy? Has your husband been working hard lately? Doesn't your husband feel anything odd about his body? Hasn't he noticed any changes in him at all?

They tested his blood and his urine. His test for his stools has not come back yet. The only thing that bothers him is his weakness in his legs when he walks, but that is because he has a back problem.

First of all, go for a blood sugar estimation, both fasting and post-prandial.
