Here we have a tradition for the first salary. As the boy/girl have his.her first job, he/she should buy some presents and deliver them to their relatives and friends to claim he/she begins his/her independent life. Also he/she should buy something special to his/her parents to thank them for their hard work of bring him/her up. I will get my first payment next month, now I wonder what kind of things is suitable for my mom? Gould you give me some suggestion?

May be you can buy her a brand new dress and take her out to a five star restaurant for a delicious evening meal. Or you can use your salary to buy her a three to four days vacation in a paradise resort location in your country, so that she can enjoy the day and night in a quiet beach away from the old house and hassle of city life Or you can just give her a large portion of your first salary in cash and let her decide what to do with it, i am sure she will really appreciate on this one.

My mother is good at saving money. If I take her to have a meal in the five star restaurant, I think she will be happy with the meal, but feel pain for the money. I will be prated for a long time. So I think buy her something useful may be a wise choice.

Well, your tradition is worth it. When I had my first salary, I did not give any to my parents, instead, I bought my needs in the office like a pair of shoes, dresses for work and bag. When I had my second salary, that's the time that I gave some part of them until such time that every payroll, I am giving with them. You should know what your mother's want and obsession. Then it is the better to give.

I think it is a good tradition, so sharing happiness with relatives and friends, and call people to rewarded loved ones. Though the first salary is not much, but I think I still can afford to buy something special for my mom. Then I will make a financial plan for myself to buy something I need and save some for my future.

At my place, the tradition being offering to god, I had placed the cheque at the feet of the god before encashing it and then bought sweets as offering to god. My mom and dad are not much of gift accepting kind of people, so I ended up taking them for a dinner out to the restaurant of their choice, where they always wanted to go and eat to their fill and choice.

We also have such a tradition. After I got my job offer, I have gone to the temple to thank gods for their help. Now come to the real life, I have to do something to thank people who have help me.

Why not go back to the memories of your mom and think of the things she loves most if not invite her to go out and have some fun.

It is really a good idea. As my mom will retire this year, she has enough time for traveling. I hope I can arrange a good travel this summer and visit your country with her. Have a nice day!!!

How thoughtful! My favorite gift would be to take the car and fill up the gas tank!

I think that treating them out for a dinner would be fine. That would mean less expenses on your part. Coz you also would want to keep something for yourself, right? Besides, having all the family together is one best thing to have.

Here, the tradition is to give the salary in full to your parents. You should give your mom something she likes. If it were me, I'd give my mom a set of curtains because she likes curtains a lot. If you think your choice of gift would not make her happy or satisfied, give her a check or gift certificates so she can decide on what to spend it on.
