How Much Do YOU Know About Gun Violence and the NRA?

The NRA is just this wonderful, patriotic organization that has the sole purpose of PROTECTING the rights of all law-abiding Americans, right? They truly believe we're all SAFER because of GUNS, right? Of course, they're correct in that assumption, right? Do you know what percentage of gun sales in the U.S. are not subject to background checks? Do you believe women in domestic violence situations are SAFER if there's a gun in the house? Or, on the other hand, do you think her chances of being MURDERED increase by the presence of a gun, and if so, by how much? How does the U.S. compare with other wealthy nations when it comes to homicides in general and homicides by firearms in particular? The NRA wouldn't lobby to allow domestic violence offenders to own guns...WOULD THEY??? Surely they wouldn't want SUSPECTED TERRORISTS to be allowed to own guns...RIGHT??? http://www.weareultraviolet.org/quiz/gun-violence/ Annie

The NRA is ... basically, on the same list as the KKK in my book.

I agree about the leadership of the NRA but from what I've heard and some people I know personally some, possibly most of the rank and file members are sensible, reasonable folks. Old WaLaPe just knows how to stir up the fear in some of them. Annie

Women in domestic violence situations (since I guess only women can get into them) aren't safe in the house their abuser regardless of what else is in the house.

So now this is a "sexism" discussion...lol? Of course I realize not only women can get into domestic violence situations but obviously the overwhelming majority of the victims of domestic violence happen to be women. I'm all for equal rights for women but I also realize there are basic differences between men and women and in most cases men are bigger and stronger than the women they're involved with. Not always, but most of the time. I mentioned women in my post because that's what was in the quiz, which I'm assuming you didn't take or even read...I know, paybacks are he11...lol! Annie

Well, I didn't write "since I guess you believe only women can get into them" And I have no problem writing that if that's what I'm thinking. I said it in general about the point. And there's also a bit of a disconnect in this particular subject, using "domestic violence" to mean only spousal abuse. Domestic violence most definitely includes kids being abused. And that's an incredibly common thing, unfortunately.
