My Laptop Was Almost Damaged

Today is the scheduled release of benefits for the 4Ps (Benefits being given to qualified poor families of the place) Beneficiaries in several barangays (villages) in the place where I am presently assigned. So I find it hard to find a vehicle (we had a jeepney as a form of transportation) which I can ride because of the influx of passengers going to the town proper. This is aside from the fact that it was raining hard. I managed to find a seat in a certain jeepney and was able to reach my office in time. However, when I checked my laptop, the bag was wet, so I was worried and immediately took out the laptop and check for any damage. Thanks God that my laptop was safe and still working. If not, maybe I will not be able to participate in the discussion this time. Have a nice day everyone!

congrats, your laptop is alright this time :) but take a plastic bag with you when you go outside with your lappy in rainy seasons, as i know waterproof bags aren't available for laptops in market yet..laptop is a delicate and important thing now a days..

You are right maurya. My laptop is one of the most important thing to me. This is my buddy. I stay more time with it than anybody else, he he. I've learned a lot of things because of this little buddy. Thank you for your suggestion.

I have an idea, if you have some free time you can make a lining from a plastic bag or old raincoat to keep laptop safe inside the laptop bag..

Hi blackrusty! That would be a great idea! I actually wrap the laptop with plastic before putting it inside the bag but having a big plastic with me is actually a better idea. Thank you for sharing!

You were very lucky, water can easily get into a laptop and cause a lot of damage to the workings, and they are very hard to repair when they have be in contact with water, even spills can cause a lot of problems. I don't take my laptop out with me, mine is always on my desk. I think it's a security risk too for people to see you carrying a laptop around.

Hi wolfie! Part of my job is to be assigned anywhere. So I have to bring my laptop with me. It just so happened that there were lots of passengers during that day. I will just have to be more careful next time. I already have with me plastic and I put my laptop inside it before I put it inside the bag. I am thankful that my laptop was still working. Thank you for sharing!

If I am not mistaken there are now water proof laptop bags. You can check them out at computer shops. If you think you have to do a lot of traveling, You need to consider buying one.

@ yanzalong & mani: I have a laptop bag which I thought was waterproof. That is why I was confident when I am traveling. But it seems that I was wrong. As of now I am planning to wrap it first with plastic before putting it inside the bag. Thank you for sharing!

i think your info about water proof baigs is not correct.. Here in pakistan local government has provided laptop's to the student with waterproof baigs. We do have this idea that no waterproof baigs are available in markeet yet. But that's wrong

Sounds like you had an active day. I'm glad to hear that your laptop is still working. I definitely know what it's like to be without a computer for an extended length of time. It's not a good feeling at all, especially when you have things to do that require a computer. Best wishes.

Hi prospectboy! This is my daily routine. I need to travel for an hour before I could reach my place of work everyday. Sometimes, the weather is not good and that is why I encounter such problem especially that the place is an interior municipality. I just need to be more careful next time. Thank you for sharing!

you had a good experience, so that next time you will be taking care of it. It is most common to happen every one at some point of time, really this happens!! Its relief that if we are lucky nothing happens, otherwise that's it we loose our control or mood of participation of any event.

Hello there! It's been awhile since I participated in yours. I would hate it if something bad happens to my macbook. I just can't afford to have it damaged or ruined. I can only imagine how you would feel if yours was damaged by water. Though I have my phone, during the night I work using my computer. I communicate to my family using it though, we sometimes communicate on my phone when I'm in school. Being far away from my family, my macbook is the source of my life at the moment. Glad to hear your laptop wasn't damaged.

Hi toni! Yes it's been a long time that you were not able to participate here. How are you? I always have my laptop with me wherever I go because of the nature of my work and our work. I never did expected that the thing will happen because I believe the laptop bag is water resistant. Maybe there is just much water that is why the bag get wet up to the inner part. Anyway, still glad that my laptop is okay. I'll be careful next time. Thank you for sharing!

Oh no, good thing it didn't get wet. Laptops are very sensitive to moisture, more so gotten wet. Maybe you should invest in some laptop sleeve that are water resistant on the outside? You know, just for some first layer of protection. There are lots of cheap sleeves being sold online. You my check them out if you like. Just a little suggestion.

Hi raine! Yeah! I think you are right. I thought my laptop bag is water resistant, that is why I am confident. Maybe I have to wrap it first with plastic beofre putting it inside the bag to make sure that it will not get wet. Then I will have to find water resistant sleeves. I really need those things. Thank you for your suggestion. Have a nice day!

well, how your laptop get wet while of using bag too? if that is like that in rainy time you can first wrap your laptop with some polytin to avoid rain drops and then keep it in your bag. you can buy or make something more safe for that. anyway I am glad that your laptop is fine.
