Sisa(a battered wife) and basilio (son)

I was just reading the last parts of Noli me tang Ere and i was very saddened about how Sisa and her family ended up. They were victims of the Spaniards indeed, and even the Filipinos of that time, only few helped. I still see many Sisas in our time... Battered women who stay with their husband since they do not want a broken family,and the neighbors and relatives who just keep quiet.

It is a sad reality. Many men will beat their wife just to show that they are the one who are in control of the family. It is the reality for other women. Fortunately here in the Philippines there are laws the penalize those who would hurt thier child and wife.
