How does your date nights turn out?

We just recently realized that the last time we went out on a date together was three months ago. So we decided that we should go out this past weekend. We went out but it surely does add up fast to go out. We paid around twenty five dollars to get to my in laws and to the movie theater in their area. Then we went to the movies which was sixteen dollars and we had dinner for sixteen dollars as well. It's crazy to think at how fast it all adds up just to go out for an evening. Does your night out on the town add up as well? How often do you and your partner/spouse go out?

We do not actually have a schedule as to when we have date nights. My husband works offshore so we only get to be together during his RnR, and during those time we even skipped having a date. Not only because it can be pretty expensive, but t can also be tiring. Sometimes we are happy just watching Netflix and eating home cooked meals. But whenever we can, we still go out and just enjoy some quiet couple time somewhere really nice. For me, as long as we don't have to spend more than a hundred I am okay with it, I mean it we don't get to do it often for now, but still the cheapskate side of me cannot take the cost.

I understand what you mean. My mother use to watch our daughter which was a great help in regard to not having to pay for a babysitter. Since she moved to a different area the cost of paying for a babysitter or driving a distance to my in laws adds to the expense our date night. And usually we are always on the cheap side of outings and it still cost a lot. We haven't done that in awhile so i try to remind myself of that fact. I'm still though trying to figure away to offset the cost.Perhaps I need to start buying giftcards for movings or for gas and set them aside for date nights. And perhaps use some change for the dinner or babysitter. We are hoping to go out once a month or once every two months depending on the activity.

We go out in spurts, mainly when we can find the time/babysitter/etc. It's a lot of planning!!
Anyway, we love antiques so we frequent antique stores. It's nice just to take your time and walk through them. Sometimes we walk through furniture stores or kitchen stores with our big dream lists of oh wow that would be so great in my kitchen effect. There is also an old market with cute shops and custom shops that we like to walk through.
We decided early on that spending money on a date wasn't something that either one of us were really into. There is so much out there that we can just stroll through and enjoy each others company.
Now if we're going out to eat that's a different story. Both of us love food so we do treat ourselves here and there. For the most part we just enjoy walking around stores and talking. Sometimes on the nicer days (it's winter here) we've taken the kids down to the park and jogged around the track or threw a football around.
I think everything is so expensive and I'd much rather remember the day we were silly in the park or joking around in a store then how much we had to spend to think we had a good time.

Glad to hear that the two of you enjoy doing things like that. It is really cost effective to take advantage of the simple ways to have a good time. I think it would be nice to walk around stores and look at things and talk. However my husband loses interest in things like that. We do though love to eat. In the area we went to there wasn't very many options for dining so the place we went to was a little more expensive. Thank goodness we don't go out like that often
