I had seen people changed with new hair style some of them bit difficult to recognize. Recently one of my friend changed and colored his hair with red. I never though he would color red, I could only recognize him when he waved his hand at me and came near to me.
There people who changed their hair style very often, but they were easy to recognize. But sometimes some people itself get changed just after they had new hair style. May be they are bored with same style.

The change was not only for the haircut , but also for the hair color, that's why you didn't recognize him at once.
Sometimes, from afar we cannot recognize somebody because of the sudden change of hair cut maybe from long to very short. But once you get nearer and see the face, you will realize that it's your acquaintance after all.

Hairstyle can change a person outlook, especially if we used to see some
girl with very long hair and out of a sudden she cut very short, colored
it brightly and change her outfit style too. It takes a while for us to
recognise her. Once in awhile we should change our hairstyle to have a
new fresh outlook with new hope and life. My family carry the tradition
of having a haircut for every Chinese New year. I will have a new hairstyle
when I start a new job to signify a new beginning...

Yes, I agree sometimes changing the hairstyle is very difficult to be recognized. Especially from the long hair to short hair. And of course it will be harder if the hair color is also changed. Because the hair color is one of the most characters of a person.

Changing hairstyles-or fur styles- for dogs can also do the same.
My mother in law brought their dog to a groomer and I almost did not recognize him. He looks like a puppy and he seemed younger. He's a 15 year old havanese and with his current trim, I swear he looks like a different dog.
