I have PCOS and have been diagnosed for about ten years. I've been on metformin as well as birth control pills. What treatments have you been on and what was your experience with them?

I've heard that iodide megadoses, though hard to find because of falsified information that gives iodine an UL (upper limit), help with the root problem: hormones. I'll be trying that soon. I was diagnosed 5 or so years ago; I'm 19 now. Doctors of wholistic medicine can also help; my mother has been on about 4 medications for some years for PCOS and her wholistic doctor's going to get her off them (including the one that's taken over her liver function) with supplementation. If you're on Yasmine, switch quickly—that has an adrenal medication in it that you're only supposed to be on for 3 months tops—and did you know that the bc themselves raise risks for some of the reproductive cancers we're already high-risk for? I wouldn't advise going cold turkey on 'em, though. I have, and I'm sick a few days out of every month. -'Dee
