Cacti are some of my favorite plants. They don't need much water at all and mainly require sunshine and sandy loam soil. My grandmother used to grow a bed of cacti under her stairs. She had all kinds of cacti from around the country, maybe even the world. People would give them to her as gifts or she would find them while visiting her grandchildren and on vacation. I only have two kinds of cacti at the moment, aloe vera and prickly pear. Both aloe vera and prickly pear are edible, and aloe vera is also medicinal. I hope to add agave to my collection, as it is also edible. Agave produces a nectar that is a popular substitute for refined sugar, as well as an ingredient in tequila. I especially like that cacti can take the long hot summers we've been having lately. And planting cacti under your home's windows is said to be a deterrent to thieves, or a painful consequence. So growing cacti is a good idea for everyone.

I agree with you. Cacti are really a wonderful plant. They hardly need water or fertile soil and any extra care. They just grow and grow in minimal care.
Aloe vera is medicinal overall, internally and externally. Prickly Pear I have seen some Masterchef episodes which had it in their items for contestants.
I love the flowering cacti a lot. I hope to collect a few of the flowering cacti myself. They actually have some beautiful flowers.

Hey anuraa. We used to always be on the lookout for Christmas cacus for my grandmother. I'd like to add some of that to my collection and explore others, too.
