I think of all the readable items, the one of immense value is the autobiographies especially of the great people who have emerged from the poor backgrounds after facing many obstacles and hardships. Currently I am reading the autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam, former Indian president and rocket scientist. I am much impressed how the son of boat maker who made boats for traveling few kilometers became rocket engineer who created rockets that can travel thousands of miles. By reading autobiographies, reader is tempted to compare his own life and is made to reach a conclusion that his life opportunities is much better and if he wants he can make very most of it. I can summarize that AUTOBIOGRAPHY can act as encouragements and a great source influence to our life. Am.. I right?

I found Nelson Mandela's autobiography in a Charity shop a few years ago. For a nominal price I had one of the most interesting reads ever. I really admire the man for his fortitude and his attitude that enabled him to lead South Africa out of apartheid. He is truly one of the greatest men of the 20th century.l

Yeah, Nelson Mandela is another great man who has faced great hardship in the rise of new Sun that shone alike on white men and black men in South Africa. It is surely interesting read.

I don't like reading autobiographies particularly, I think I need to be already interested in the life of the person I'm reading. My favorite ones so far is The Opposite of Fate, Amy Tan's book reveals amazing and harrowing stories from her life, and Dispatches from the Edge, Anderson Cooper's book on what he witnessed in the frontlines of news reporting. In a way, it inspires me to go on.
