So my oven is broken. Hard to find recipes to cook on stove top. Hope I can get a new stove soon. I found a few recipes online yesterday but my hubby didn't like the one I made last night. He is fussy.

Oh that is too bad about your oven. However, I am a bit puzzled that you find it hard to do recipes on the stove top. I rarely cook a full meal in the oven, usually only when a few people come for dinner. Do you have a slow cooker? I find it amazing. It makes wonderful stews, chicken and dumplings, baked beans and more. I put it on in the morning when I am gone all day and come home late afternoon and dinner is ready except for the salad. Do you have an electric frying pan? It makes wonderful stir fry as does a wok on top of the stove. Those dishes are so healthy. I use my oven to bake a cake on special occasions or a turkey at Thanksgiving.

i do most things in the oven cause i make a lot of roasted chicken. i don't like frying it. although i do have a plug in grill that would work. will have to take that out.

We have experienced having our oven broken. We even tried to utilize the oven toaster but it wasn't the same. Good thing my mom knows a lot about stove top cooking. It was like a crash course for me. Now that the oven has been restored, I rarely use it now. But I try to alternate stove top cooking and oven cooking.

I hardly ever use my oven... I have a nice "toaster oven"...and use it all the time. It is a small oven..perfect for cooking for two. 9x12 inch cooking area. Holds pans, dishes etc perfectly. It has temp to 400* and has the settings of bake, broil, toast and warm. You can put toast in it and set it on toast and has its own timer for that, but I never do that. I bake or broil and it always turns out great. I have a 6 cup muffin pan to make 6 cupcakes/muffins, 2x9x9 baking pan for breads, meats, lasagna..anything. I have a 3" tall round pan for cakes, and I have even use those cooking bags in it. A nice one like mine costs $100 and I got mine on sale for $89. I use it all the time, hardly ever turn on my large oven and I have had it now for 2 years. My daughter just moved in with us and she would crank up that big oven to bake one or two chicken bre(ast to split between her and her daughter (neither big eaters). I'm going...good grief...all that gas to bake those two little things, then heat up the house while doing it. I made her learn how to use the toaster oven (really just a small oven that has the ability to toast or top brown) she thought I was out of my mind. She fought me a couple times about it, but finally realizes how quick and easy it was and NO MESS and now she does it herself and everything turns out fine. And when you do need to clean it...it has a removable bottom tray to clean, pullout the racks and spray it down with Simple Green. In a regular oven...the self cleaning mode..that just turns the temp up so high that it burns things off..you then have to go in and clean that up and dealing with all the large racks, and on your knees to do it...my little counter oven is perfect. Other things you might like is the George Foreman style grill. Electric grills. I don't like food cooked on the electric..charcole grill or fry or bake. But daughter uses that and she likes it. But she does say it takes longer to clean the unit than it does to cook the meat! But if you want to grill.. how about a griddle on the burner? I have a nice one of those and make grilled cheese or grilled bread sandwiches etc. You can do eggs, or grill meats on the griddle, not just pancakes and grilled cheese! Crock pots are liked by some, but I can't stand them, Just the thought of something being cooked in hot water for hours and hours...sitting in that water for hours and hours...only thing I use that for is to make chili and my husband will make stew in it..other than that it sits in the cabinet! Good luck in creating new and different dishes! Should be fun!

I make most of my dishes in the stove top. I steam my veggies there, make omelettes, boil pasta and make the sauce for it, cook rice, make all kinds of stews. I am quite sure that most recipes online are for a stove top. Of course you can`t bake or roast there, unless you have a grill as I have. I use my oven, but could do as well if it broke down.

The oven that was here had started acting up, and we had to be careful and watch everything that we cooked even if we put the oven much lower things would burn if you didn't pay attention to them.

What about some shrimp, rice and veggies. Quick, simple and all on the stovetop.

My oven currently has some issues as well, but thankfully it is not broken to the point that I'm not able to use it. I mean I don't bake every night and I have to admit that the vast majority of the cooking that I do is cooking that is done on the stovetop as opposed to things that I've cooked in the oven. That said, I really do think that I would be lost if I was completely not able to use my oven for a period of time.
