I am like really until I started reading the whole story. Apperentlly this woman has been working for walmart for eight years. During those eight years she eat chips, cookies and other things without paying for them. When I read the headline I was like how many cookies did she steal to have it a felony. But appearentlly they are counting all the things she admitted to stealing. Walmart says most of the things they have stolen are from employees. I am like that Walmart needs to be more aware of the emlpoyees that they hire.

As an employer myself, i wouldn't think for a second it is such a big deal if my employees steal some of my cookies and chocolate chips to feed her/his stomach, i will have sympathy on her for coming to work with no food to eat at home. In my workplace, we usually order some pizza, fried chicken or donuts for the employees to eat during break time, so they don't have to work with an empty stomach. It is quite sad to see employees have to resort to stealing the company cookies to feed herself, instead of making enough money from her own paycheck to buy food for herself and her family, it is not uncommon to see theft among employees in some of these very low paying and no employment benefit national retail stores nowadays, the minimum wage of worker can hardly feed the whole family members of two. it is such a tragic scenario for low level workers in America workplace. Sigh!!!

I read once where in the usa at a major supermarket, they said most of the items stolen were by employees. Very sad, you cant trust your own workers.

I would imagine this happens in many larger stores, not just Walmart, and I'm sure Walmart is well aware of problems in the workforce. You never know how good an employee is going to be when you first hire them. My daughter knew an Assistant Manager who ran a store for quite a few years. All of a sudden, she started stealing phone cards and was caught, admitted it, and fired. No one knows why people do this.

How can you arrest someone over cookie stealing? I wish you had attached the link so that I can read the article myself. I would think that any company would do a criminal background check on potential hires. Even if they come up squeaky clean, that's just odd. I do agree though that most items that are stolen in any store is largely due to employees.

I bought a prepaid card at Alcos. When my daughter went to use the card all that was left was 64 cents. The security code wasn't even scratched off but yet it went through with the 64 cents that was left. We figured the clerk that ran that through had gotten the number of the card somehow and used it knowing how much she had to spend. Of course, the store won't be responsible for lost or stolen cards so we weren't able to get any of that money back. Many times they make mistakes in our favor so until I get my money back I am not going to correct them. Do you think that is wrong?

This is silly... Working in Walmart and restrain yourself from eating one pack of chips or a cookie... I know that Walmart has to make money but they should add a little something for they employees as a bonus. I'm not saying that they should allow them to take home a whole bags of food and stuff but it wouldn't hurt to let them eat a cookie or two or drink something for free while they work. I don't think they lost thousands of dollars just because that one woman or even some other people. Besides I would be careful with the shop where employees stay out of the products they sell. That one unlucky woman should promote Walmart saying "Products so good that I couldn't help stealing them".
