while in iceland we visited this waterfall where the salmon spawn. however the salmon could barely get up the waterfall anymore so they build a salmon staircase on the side of the falls. it was really interesting to see.

This is something that I think is becoming more and more common as the natural lay of the land has changed because of things that humans have caused. Now I've never had the opportunity to see these staircases that are made for fish because we don't have any native fish in the area that I live in that return to the place of their birth to spawn. However, I do know that staircases like what you're talking about are something that is pretty common in Alaska and other places where salmon are native.

I have never heard of fish making staircases. This is every interesting to know. I'm glad they find a way to spawn so they don't die out. Thank you for this interesting info.

that is very common in the states they build stairs that only fish are allowed to climb up and spawn it is a good thing as so many would die and we would loose a part of the food chain love fish
