do you flush the toilet with your foot?

You might find this weird but I do that in public restrooms. I do not sit on the bowl seat, you know just half-squat when I pee, and when I'm done, I flush it using my foot to touch the flusher. Weird, right? But I am thinking that since I am doing this, then other people might also be doing the same thing so the flush handle must be very, very dirty with all the shoes that touched to flush it. I would also flush it with my shoe on. I know. It sounds and looks crazy. There are toilets with flush situated really high. Still, I do the same thing. If the flush is a small button, then there is no problem. I press the button using a finger and I am sure nobody uses the feet to do it. What are your nasty public toilet habits? Some who don't want to sit on the bowl pee on the floor--this is nasty. They let their kids do this because they don't want them to sit on the bowl and kids don't know how to pee on the bowl without sitting on it.

Good day, Cutie18F! Actually you are not that weird after all. Coz I do exactly the same thing as you do. Well, that was how my mom taught me to do since I was a kid. Much better to do that than catch all the germs that goes with it.

Has anyone told you that you were weird doing that? I can't imagine how anybody else would feel comfortable sitting on the public toilet knowing that you could get sick from all the germs and bacteria it has.

We in India have public toilets which are known as 'sauchalayas' We can use the services of the woman who is employed to clean up the place before and after it is used. She is paid a nominal fee.

Where such facility is not available, one needs to face the fact that there is no place on earth that has a place where one can use public toilets without the fear of contamination. A thorough washing of hands is the only solution. No. I do not use my foot to flush toilets- not an ethical thing to do in my opinion!

So now that it has been brought to your notice I hope you will stop doing it as the next person who uses that toilet would use hands to flush. Not fair. Right!?

Oh my gosh this one had me laughing. I love all the responses too. I don't do this but I can see the logic in it. My issue is we go camping I will not use an outhouse, we have to have whoosh toilets. My friends know I will not go camping with them if the toilet doesn't good whoosh. Now here is my thought about flushing with my shoes. I walk into my and I didn't wash my feet so now the germs get on the floor of the tent. My hands I can at least wash off right away. Now using the tissues to flush as one said I think is a good plan. I am going to have to think on this one. But I did enjoy the giggles.

but just think if you lose your balance and land on the floor thats the dirtiest place yet. better to wrap toilet paper around your fingers and flush. our modern toilets you do not have to touch as they flush automatically so just wash your hands good and wrap t paper around your fingers and open the door ofthe rest room CR to you I guess.

Yes, Tricia. There are a lot of weird things people do when nobody is looking. It is because of this fear of germs.

I know that using tissue is the best method but I have gotten used to this bad habit of raising a foot to flush. I always make sure I stand firm and securely so I don't fall. That would be catastrophic.

I don't always use my foot to flush in public restrooms but i have used mt foot before. I also don't sit on the seat in public restrooms i squat like you do because i have seen the seats and some of them are downright filthy. My hubby says if he has to sit he wipes the seat off first and i say that doesn't always help because if the seat is too dirty your are getting all the dirt or germs for that matter. Im not a germ aphobe (afraid of germs) but when i see the toilets in public restrooms i don't sit on them. u turn the water off by using a paper towel if it not the automatic kind of sink and has a handle. then i open the door to the bathroom when leaving with a paper towel because most public restrooms are filthy and full of germs and this to me is gross when i see the dirt.

but squatting do not you have to hold o n to something? I now the germ bit but comm,on sense tells me to just use toilet paper to flush and seat covers and wash your hand s thoroughly. The truth is that there are just as many g erms on the keyboards we use and on other places where we use our fingers all the time not just restrooms. I realize public restrooms are germy of course but why get paranoid over it.Just use common sense and so many here have not mentioned th at washing ones hands then using ones fingers to open the door is self defeating. wrap tissue around your hand and open the doorm] then toss the tissue.

Most of us are really afraid of the germs that we could from these public places so all sorts of weird things are done.

I'm used to exercising yoga positions so half-squatting is not really a problem with me.

I do not, sorry but I find that intolerable. I use this toilet seat spray so I can sit on the toilet seat. I do not squat because I don't want my pee to miss and hit the floor or wet myself, nor do I risk myself by stepping on the toilet seat. I use a tissue paper or wet ones to flush without my hand actually getting in contact with that. I know most people do what you do but I personally think it's wrong and there's no sense in doing it just because the rest are also doing it.

Sometimes i put a toilet seat cover on when the public restroom has them. I try really hard never to touch the toilet seat if i don't have to.

Hi Raine! I get you and I think I need to bring tissue or wipes with me next time so I don't have to raise a leg when flushing.

well just for the handle you can always use tissue to handle the handle and thought it in as it flushes and if you think about it that is most likely to be the dirtiest part of the toilet every one touches it all the germs

I hear ya and I agree! I do the same thing you do, lol! I don't want to touch no dirty old handles..UGH. I never saw any pee on the floor from kids doing that, thank goodness..that's disgusting. What I really hate is the automatic flushing toilets that you don't have to touch.....those are the one's with the little button. The problem is, they go and automatically flush when I'm halfway through peeing!!!! I HATE that..then I feel like my butt is all wet..another UGH! Will we ever win?

Oh yeh, one thing I wanted to say before and forgot...those kids that pee on the floor?....why don't the mothers put down tp on the seat for them so they can sit down. That's what I used to do for my kids. It will be fun to hear what others do but so far, you and me are the on the same page, lol!

Hello Cutie18f half-squat yes! Of couse, don't want the bowl touch any part of my skin, hoho! But flushing with foot, I don't think so. For me, I always press the button with my finger. Then after that wash my hands in wastafel. waw, this is the first time I know someone who rise their foot and press the flush-button (try to imagine the position, LOL!), maybe I should try it next time I use public toilet. But for this long, I always use my finger, wash my hands, and pour 2 drops of hand sanitizer, voila! clean enough, I think

Flushing the toilet with your foot presents an image of a very flexible person! Personally I would not try it although, like you, I wonder about the germs on the handle. I worry about the door too, do you open that with your foot? Since we are going to pick up germs without realising it in a public toilet it is better to just give your hands a thorough rinse when you leave. Failing that you can always carry hand wipes with you that will kill anything you might have picked up.

Public toilet should be handle with care because once it had spoiled, we are the one who will be in difficulty. Pushing the button by your foot is just a selfish act because you don't want others to use it after you had done. This is a serious problem in every country especially for younger generation people and students, they don't care and respect others.

LOL nice topic. I do not sit on the bowl also because of obvious reason (girl thing).. but I didn't use my feet in flushing the toilet bowl, I rather use a tissue paper to protect my hands from touching the flusher.
