Dylan's back story is full of inconsistences

Dylan's back story sure is full of consistences. He told Sharon he left studying architecture to help his dad run the business when his did got sick but he had already said he had wanted to see the world and thus had joined the army. So either his dad recovered quickly and he gave up on architecture to see the world or he left even thought his dad need help. When he calls his dad it sure sounds like he is not in good health. Also, the memory of Sully in combat the first time has Dylan to push the rifle to him but to keep his head down and it is like Dylan is wounded or something and he can't try for the rifle that is only a couple of feet away. But the next time Dylan has gotten over to Sully, after he has been shot because he didn't keep his head down, the rifle has magically disappeared all together and Dylan is raising up much higher than Sully did when he got shot but Dylan isn't getting shot.
