The Filipino in American Idol.

It was a global event, the showdown with Philip Phillips and Fil-Am Jessica Sanchez last year, for the much coveted title of being American Idol. Filipinos are internet clickers, and with the powerful voice of teen-age Jessica, the Pinoy Power was mobilized. However, the contest was for American Idol, and America's heart swooned for their very own guitar strumming Philip, who I believe deserves it. The lad was an epitome of what an American Idol should be. Currently, another teen-age Filipino girl from Alaska, is trying her luck in the dozen year old singing contest. Her name is Adriana, and she received accolades from the four judges of the show. Here's the news: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/blogs/omgphnewsblog/pinay-next-american-idol-042806145.html Whatever the outcome of this contest be, the Filipino need not prove prowess in music, let us all just let our voices be heard, and enjoy singing to and entertaining the world.

Oh! I watched the video and she's good. This Adriana sings like a pro. And it seems like the Filipinos have already make a mark in that contest. Minaj asked the girl if she is a Filipino. Wow, that proves something! And yes, it looks like Filipinos have another reason to watch this season's American Idol. Honestly, I have not watched even a single episode of this season. After the last season where Jessica placed second, my excitement just rested and could not find a reason to watch American Idol again. I never really thought another Filipino will come out again. This gives me the push to watch American Idol again.

Yes of course, the Filipinos perhaps are most blessed when it comes to singing and dancing. Even Ellen de Generes, I believe, acknowledge that.

Yeah, this new Filipina idol entry is beautiful and I think she has better chance of winning.

There are actually 3 Fil-Am contestants: Jett Hermano, Bryant Tadeo and Adriana Latonio, but only Adriana made it to the Top 20: Read news here http://jenaisleonline.com/2013/03/01/two-out-of-three-fil-am-entries-eliminated-from-the-top-20-american-idol-2013-contestants-charlie-askew-rocks/ I am sad the the two were eliminated because they both have powerful vocals. Anyway, I hope Adriana would make it to the grand finals like Jessica Sanchez did. She has the potential to be another Jessica Sanchez. Good luck to her.

Wow that was great news.Let the world know that Filipinos got talent too.Even if she won't make it as the winner being a contestant is a big privelege.

It is difficult to win, for a female, especially of Filipino descent, almost all the viewers of AI, I think, are girls.

It's been quite a while since the last time that I watched American Idol because of the fact that the dynamic of the show has changed. However, I do know that there are really a lot of great talents that are discovered as a part of being on the television show. What I think is great about American Idol is the fact that it does give a lot of people the opportunity to show their talents in ways that they may never have been able to do otherwise. That said, I do hope that all of the voices are heard and that the best talent will prevail.

I'd like that to happen to, but we have to accept that guitar toting boys are preferred idols, the girls are voting for their crushes!

Jessica Sanchez is part Mexican. Know what, Filipinos and Mexicans have many things in common, not just same surnames.

I guess this is just another reason why Pinoys would start watching AI again since there is something to watch for in the competition. I just hope that she could really go into the finals. I only watch this show when there are pinoy contestant in the candidates but if there is none I seldom watch this AI show. I guess the management does insert Pinoy contenders so that the viewership would increase.

American Idol, I believe, lasts, because we Pinoy love music so much, and we support the show all out.

Hello eileeneyva, how come i get the feeling that they always like to include filipinos for the sole purpose of having one of ours become a contender for the finalle in idol.besides, am sure they will find her very amusing. but that would depend on the fact that they are given the kind of music that they wish to sing. as for her, not sure how far she can go, didn't even think about another filipina making it to the top

AI is big business, and the producers know that there is a strong Filipino viewership. A room will always be reserved for Filipinos.

In the latest season of Idol there is another Filipina again, but I think she is more beautiful than Jessica, more emotive in her singing and has a good voice too. I hope she makes it to the finals.

Ha ha, Jessica Sanchez, of course, has become beautiful altogether all because of her singing prowess and gracefulness. The Filipina has a distinct beauty, wild in some ways, and when one keeps looking, she becomes even more fascinating and endearing,
