It is hard to find a job that I can do with the handicapps that I have first off,but employers are even making it more difficult. They are combining jobs. For instance one job that I had checked about expected the employee to do the job as a receptionist/customer service rep said that they must be in the office at ALL times, then stated and that person must be patroling the grounds at ALL times doing maintenance also clean the rest rooms.Did I miss something?.....how can you be inside at ALL times and also be outside at ALL times? Back in in 2002 I worked a job just doing the position of receptionist and made $10 per hour the secutity mafe $12 per hour and a part time cleaning person made $8.50 per hour. But,this job combinig all 3 position's only paid $8.00 per hour! Has anyone else seen job offers like this?

hehe well yeah, there are like that and here i think you will be surprised as to how much people are getting for a job with too much hard work). It has become like this now because i think many companies have tried to lessen their expenses and yes, the biggest expense they have are the salaries of their people so they try to cut down costs.

Hi chiyosan, Their largest expense is going to be when people start getting sick from over working or because the employees are not getting paid enough then they have to get public assistance and they are not allowed to work very much at all.

I think it is shocking the company is combining the job of receptionist, maintenance person and toilet cleaner all in one paying the employee just eight dollars per hour. It is a hard time to find a well paid and lovely job these days it would seem. It is worrying jobs in 2013 pay less than they did way back in 2002. I hope you find a suitable job soon. Good luck.

Receptionist/Customer Service is a sound combination...but cleaning the grounds? The entire job sounds unrealistic. I have seen some jobs that were lumped together but the one you gave just sounds like a company that doesn't know what they are doing. Yes, jobs are hard to find. I'm finding that myself but won't do any serious looking for anything full time for a while.

Hi kprofgames,Yes,Reception work is a form of customer service work.....mater of fact almost all work has some form of customer service. This particular job I was telling about is at a self storage facility.Somehow you are to be inside to answer the phones, help the customers, process the legal for for evictions and auctions but also be outside at ALL times, cleaning the property, checking for locks on units and rodants on property.Plus clean the public bathrooms. The owners sound like my landlord.....tightwads!Don't want to spend an extra pennyon anything!

Finding good jobs are hard to find period. Even with a handicap, etc..I'm sure it is harder. I have a hard enough time finding a decent job that will support me and my two kids as well as being able to afford the day to day necessities. I hope you find something soon.

I've seen this many times in the past few years. I was a scheduler/planner some years ago with extensive inventory control experience. That's where I started. Now, they want someone to do inventory control and schedule to production as well. And pay less for it than what an inventory control position gets (which is less than sched./planner jobs). Other jobs I've seen want you to do inventory control, run the shipping/receiving office and unload trailers. And the pay is less. In those particular areas nothing is specialized anymore. They just lump it all into one job, expect the employee to do it all and get paid less for it. They know people need jobs and definitely take advantage of it. And the company is saving money as well. It seems they do it for all kinds of jobs now. And it is terrible.

Well job is scarce nowadays, you know, the principle of the Law and Demand? that's the reason why people still apply and take the job even if there are two job descriptions in one pay. Companies are very intelligent and clever because people wanted employment.

Some companies really offer a job which involves different tasks. I think they do this in order to save a lot of money. Just imagine if they will just pay a single person to serve as a receptionist and as a hotel room attendant, they will really save a lot of money that two hire two different people to perform the individual duties. It is okay to accept that kind of job if the company will give you double payment for two roles but if that won't be the case, then just look for other jobs which will give you less heavier tasks.

Its up to you. you should think about differently and how comfort you work in a different way than where you stick to one profession. Just change your job/profession and you feel and get good knowledge in other area. it may take you to the upper position than you. Believe, i was also one of the sufferer like you in my previous experiences from different companies and positions. But later i believed in myself to get better job than what i was worked for almost 8 years. Now i am doing better and enjoying with my work life better than ever. Just take your mind to different area. All the best and congrats in advance.
