how can i increase my rating? how can i add a picture to my profile?

Here on mylot Im new. I started writing my answers to the questions here in WORD Doc., then I copy and paste. I wanted to do this to avoid misspelled words and grammer. When I tried to paste it wouldnt let me, saying that I need to have a ratings of 500 or more. How can I do this? Also, how can I add a picture to my profile?

what do you mean with rating?? is it the number next to your name? well, if you want to increase that number or your rating, all you have to do is increase your participation in response discussion or even start your own discussion.
how to add picture to your profile?? == go to "preferences", then choose customize your profile, you can add your avatar by upload a picture. in preference you also can edit your payment information, account information, notification, etc.

Yeah, when I copy and paste, it says I need a rating of 500 or more to paste. But your information helped me out as well. I am trying to increase my participation...as well as my discussions on here. This helped me out a lot as well.

thanks for the encouragement! im not giving up. I just started yesterday. I do like the site and helping people (vice versa). Sometimes its good to meet new people and be in others lives. Just a whole new expereince than the same old same old routine everyday.

Sorry, you cannot copy and paste more than a shortish URL until you have a user rating of 500. In the past we have had some problems with people plagiarizing (copying) from other websites and so everyone has to reach a UR of 500 before they can do so. That may seem a long way to have to go right now but, believe me, if you continue to participate in discussions it will take less time than you think.
Other things which happen at certain user ratings are:
At 100, you will see your MyLot Reputation 'star' (see http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx ) and you will be able to rate other people's posts (see http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx )
At 200, you will be able to use emoticons from the MyLot Code menu on the left (you can already use bold, italics and underline, if you want)
At 500, you will be able to copy and paste and you will also be able to add images to responses and comments as well as to discussions (see this first, though: http://www.mylot.com/o/photoguidelines.aspx ).
You have clearly discovered how to add an avatar (under 'Preferences' rather than 'Profile'), so I have no need to tell you again.
